There is a fine line between badgering and persistence. I've been involved with a hire once. It was hiring my replacement as a law clerk for a judge. There were an assload of applications, and there was really no way to narrow down beyond maybe a top 5 because they were all over qualified. Recent law grads want the job for experience. There wasn't any real way to pick, so, he ended up hiring the most persistent one. She got other people to call in and recommend her. She "badgered" via third parties.
