This. Bunch of 4channers tried to force it as /ourcoin/, during the presale ico phase of chainlink there was a minimum requirement of 300eth to enter the presale. Bunch of anons pooled up together and shared presale links to fill them with their eth. Coin continued to get shilled and pumped up and hyped for the sibios event that link was attended, whole event turned out to be a flop chainlink had a presentation in a room of like 18 people next to the public toilets, literally no news or partnership came from the event and the coin dumped back to below ico prices and created 1000's of bagholder anons. Now during this alt bull run lots of anons and took advantage of this and shilling this coin to all the new money and newfags that joined in december and don't know this story. The coin is HEAVILY manipulated and the supply is dried up from huge whales who accumulated below ICO price to create a artificially lower supply (a lot like REQ) and these people have so much room to dump on all of you faggots to still be in profit when the time comes. In regards to actual project that chainlink aiming to achieve it's nothing more than a basic json parser for smart contracts, would take like a day to add to ethereum by itself.. literally making links whole concept pointless and definitely no need for a token. Would take a lot longer to get it working with bitcoin but the bitcoin core devs would be able to work out the solution a lot quicker than chainlink will, think that's something worth noting that literally nothing is completed and you're literally just buying a whitepaper, they have only 2 developers and they don't communicate at all with no proven background on either, in fact sergey was involved in a project before chainlink called NxT that he since been abandoned until it was took over by a new developer team

>E-signatures have become a popular way to obtain digital signatures. It has modernized the signature process and helped companies avoid the costly overhead of obtaining a physical signature. Signatures are the most common way to authorize contracts, therefore it’s a necessity that Chainlink oracles give smart contracts access to leading e-signature companies like DocuSign.

Out of curiosity, what happened to spike the price Jan18? Was it simply affected by the bullrun? That seems like it would be the most obvious answer

ok, here's the chainlink redpill:
1. there is no mainnet event planned on 30th of May, because project was launched together with ethereum back in 2015
2. free trustless json parser loaded with additional plugin features already exists:
https://jsonformatter.org/json-parser
3. noone in the world needs another worthless utility erc20 token
written in pure javascript to parse small self-executing bits of code
allowing to connect smart contracts to real world data feeds
and the most important part:
4. the core javascript module was hacked earlier today
total vaporwave

It was just the bullrun. At that time LINK only did about a 4x which was almost nothing by bullrun standards. But I think we were about rank 80 with no marketing and a use case that required significant knowledge, so it's no surprise Chainlink didn't moon as much as others.

All I know is it's some "better than blockchain" tech or something, maybe I am completely wrong. What does it do. Once Mainnet is out Link will become too expensive for me to bother purchasing, I've got a comfy stack and even over $1 feels like an expensive purchase. If Holo is even close to Link in how legit it is, I might start dumping paychecks into that instead. Do they have anything to look forward too, a mainnet or release or anything? I've been burnt on everything else I held aside from Link, so I am kinda averse to other shitcoins now.

Fair enough. But you need to remember, $2 to 1k is only a 500x, while $1 to 1k is a 1000x. We all bought sub $1 in the cent range, our gains percentage will be fucking huge. Reddit is already pretty fucked as it is.

I just want the price to go high enough, so that the collateral value is there so Sergey can get derivatives online by the end of the year.

Shilling this to retail investors is pointless. They won't get it and even if they do, when mainnet launches it either will be adopted or it won't. Speculation period is over. If smart contracts magically go mainstream and chainlink is adopted by all these companies like deluded bizfags think, it will go parabolic. If not (more likely) it will be clear to all that nobody is using it, it will dump like crazy, and people will move onto the next thing. It will be Vechain all over again.
