Oracles were always meant to be decentralized by design.
They work by reaching consensus off-chain, and you can only do that if there are at least two independent actors.

A centralized oracle is to a decentralized oracle like a database is to a blockchain.

Maybe less.

OP - no, no one seriously believes it, but then that doesn't make it worse than any other shitcoin.

LINK is vapourware solving a problem that never even existed, it's essentially a one-man meme team like XVG or something.

After mainnet it will dump by 80% minimum, that's how the market works.

deluded LINKies will defend their decision to hodl instead of dump here while it's nearly top fucking 20 CMC.

>Decentralised oracles
Oracles are an input, decentralised input is just majority consensus of input data over a period of time. This is easily doable in a smart contract, no need for a new coin.

I never understood why we need decentralized input data so I never bother to buy chainlink.
I mean data is generated on a centralized way wtf.

Well you were right about it "being doable with a smart contract", but a new coin is indeed a very good idea.

>> No.13813603

>>13813476
I was right about my entire statement, unless we disagree on what an Oracle is. What do you think an Oracle is? An oracle is as I stated above, a way to input information into a blockchain from an outside source (Outside source is irrelevant to the nature of an Oracle). It's just an input, a decentralised oracle can only work by taking multiple inputs over a period of time and taking the consensus. Unless you have "Trusted" input entities then who makes them the trusted entity, this opens a whole new discussion, but that's not what this topic is about.

A new coin is not a good idea, it weakens the network by needing to build a new security network from scratch. It would be smarter security wise to make it a token on a more established network.

>a decentralised oracle can only work by taking multiple inputs over a period of time
You have no idea what an oracle is.

>> No.13813627

>>13812219
i personally don't believe in it.
here is why: if the data provider signs the data on the api there is no need for decentralized oracles at all, you can feed your own certified data onto the chain to drive your smart contracts.

so basically chainlink is a glue but you can use crews bolts rivets welding soldering whatever you want instead of fucking glue.

>> No.13813917

>>13813621
If it doesn't take multiple inputs over a period of time, the only other alternative is a single input. A single input would be a centralized point of onboarding information to the blockchain. I don't think you understand what an Oracle is, I've stated what it is, state what you think it is.
