i listened and bought 1000 eth in jan 2016, then dumped when the DAO was hacked and millions of $ were being drained daily from the contract, there was talk of a fork that will roll back the hack but if vitalik did that the community was gonna lose faith that ETH is truly decentralized and the project would have lost trust, as it should have, but peoples greed won over in the end, no one really cared a year later and the rest is history.
