Tellurium is 4 times more scarce than gold in the earths crust and recent findings in the Sun-Yat Sen university in China have determined that Tellurium can be used for water desalinization.

Currently some 600 metric tones are being pulled out the ground annually, mostly as byproducts of copper mining. The production is going to increase but because of scarcity peak tellurium will come more sooner than later. Tellurium is a fucking byproduct. If aomehow Cu was no longer needed, Te might have become more expensive since now you have to produce lots of trash Cu to obtain Te. But it is the reverse. Cu is needed everywhere, and Te is just a bonus to Cu.
