red pill me on why hardware wallets (with the current blockchain structure and fees) are fucking abysmal for anything other than holding coins for 10+ years and eating the one time trx fee

>have various crypto on exchange wallets
>bought ledger nano
>transferred 25 xrp into new ledger wallet to test
>ripple requires minimum of 20 xrp in wallet at all times.

Fucking WHAT

so mathmatically im paying 10 USD for the privledge of having a wallet, and hypothetically if XRP raises to just 1 dollar, i lost 100 dollars into the abyss.

Then lets talk, all the BTC, LTC fees sure its alot better now with segwit, but some exchanges dont support segwit still. So ill pay a fee just to get my coin on the exchange HOPEFULLY within 5 days. want it faster? pay a bigger fee.

Unless you are holding thousands of dollars of crypto and fees are a drop in the bucket for you, youre getting fucking rekt.

INB4 deh minersss need 2 bE payD

How is this good for crypto, how is this viable for trading. You essentially have to trust an exchange with your assets or get rekt transferring back and forth, not to mention missing crucial sell moments due to the time it takes to confirm.

Not sure what you mean, just moved by Digibytes onto my hardware wallet for less than a penny. Now I just moved my Doge over, for less than a penny as well.

Hardware wallets, or even just plain old wallet software, is not for traders. Repeatedly withdrawing and depositing, paying the withdrawal fee and transaction fees for depositing each time just isn't worth it if you are a trader.

Hardware wallets are more for either holding, or actually spending your coins. Hardware wallets allow you to spend your coins even on a virus-filled malware infected computer without any risk to your private key. That's basically it, really.
