Suppose you started mining in 2011. You think you wouldn't have sold at $5? $20? $100? I guarantee there wasn't a single person who knew about bitcoin in 2011 that would believe the 2017 peak. It's easy to look back and say "what if I'd just made this one decision differently, then I'd be rich." But it wouldn't have been one decision. You would have had to make continuous decisions to keep mining, hold on to your coins, and not take the easy thousands of dollars when they were suddenly available and it seemed like that two digit bitcoin bubble was going to pop. More than likely you'd be another one of those "I had 10000 bitcoin that I traded for a pizza" types. Tons of people had enough bitcoin at some point to be millionaires. Not many of them became them though.

Hal finney literally said to satoshi in like 2009 that if this bitcoin thing takes off then each coin could be worth $750k.

There are also people like Max Kaiser who have been saying bitcoin will be worth millions (even on live television) since like 2011.
