This is a good thread with many realisitic business ideas. And congratulations on your demon trips. Demons are very fussy about sticking to the terms of their contracts.

Anyone have experience hiring staff? I guess I am looking for home help so I don't have to do boring tasks and can focus on interesting engineering and sales instead.
I am thinking about hiring someone to come over, clean up the house, do my laundry and ironing, then leave. And not get butt-hurt that someone is richer than them.
Also hiring someone to manage my messages and social calendar. Would it be better to have someone I know irl, or could I hire a Filipino online?

>> No.13712744

>>13712531
Be careful with hiring.
I do not recommend hiring any staff when you are just some random people working on projects. Especially software projects. 3D assets for example are owned by the artists. So this can seriously screw your project over. Put all in a NDA and contract. And yeah i mean everything related to work and asset/code ownership.

Hiring is much better, if you own a ltd or company.

Anybody has experience with building automated news sites? I'm thinking about creating a news aggregator (like Drudge Report for example), but I don't want to put too much effort in it.

Also: does anyone has experience managing a forum? I'd like to create my own anonymous chan, but the legal risks (in case of CP/hateful content/racism etc) seem like too much of a threat.

There are some scripts for that build by SEO guys to quickly set up hundreds of sites, just google "automated news site SEO script" alternatively you can use reddit clone scripts. If you have more effort to spend there were couple articles around about building systems that automatically pick up news stories from twitter/reddit/etc and group similar stories from different sources to show user different perspectives or track which sites add new info to the story. But even just presenting news stream from reddit with meme garbage and American politics removed and some usable layout could be interesting,

Anyways, wouldn't the real challenge here be getting traffic?

Anoyone know good resources to learn about ICO creation processes and similar topics to coin creation that are geared towards the business/financial side and not coding stuff?

Also, lets say I got a company to create an ICO for me in return for a percentage of the funds raised, and we started the crowdsale. Lets say I get my goal of 20mil, and the coins sell out. What happens then? Since coins arent equity do they just continue to exist as a trade-able entity like how stocks are traded in secondary markets compared to when they are first offered as an IPO. That would mean after raising funds for my company, I wouldnt have to worry about the coins anymore right?

Yeah, other example in this category is craigslist - originally a weekend project that was making tens of millions of dollars and the developers were afraid to change anything in it's simple design to not break it.

Although it's hard to exactly point out what is cause and what is effect here, I would argue that the real world market need comes first here, As such it's not that any simple site would one day make it big - it's just that some simple sites by chance happened to answer the need of the market. Thinking about it that way is IMHO better that "why not to try if it's cheap" because it gives you a way to massively increase you chances. Too many entrepreneurs are stuck in their own heads, talking about faith, optimism, never giving up, hard work, just-do-it and not realizing it will be actually the other people and the world outside their head that will decide about the success of the venture, so why not take a peek on what the market needs? Why go after 1% chance maybes when there are 30+% chance opportunities out there? And starting with understanding the market is how you find them.

Oh, I remember some cloud providers were giving free quotas to people who just start with their website. It's not actually free, but at least it doesn't cost money up front.

Have you heard about news.ycombinator.com? It's similar to reddit, but with higher signal to noise ratio, they are semi-anonymous and quality is achieved by aggressive moderation and bans. The site is quite spartan, but there are couple alternative interfaces that could be an inspiration for you, for example http://hckrnews.com/ very simple and to the point.

Trying to escape wage slavery but I don't know where to start. I have $1000 saved up for investing and I can't decide (and am too ignorant) what to do. I'm currently researching the basics of investing and Amazon FBA. Are these things worth pursuing at this stage or should I explore other ventures? My ultimate goal is to save enough for a couple of business ideas that I believe have the potential to set me for life, however that is a long ways down the road. My situation is that I live at home at age 24 with a $14/hr job. I have a degree in basket weaving (visual communications in journalism) but I am optimistic. I may be late in the game but I'm not dumb enough to stay at this stage for long. Any tips/tricks/advice is welcomed thanks anons.

I can tell you what I did.
I bought some beer and Sold it ICE cold on Hot days. I made bout 500$ a Day. Much work much Money. Had to buy a shit 500$ car to fill it up with Ice for one Day.

That money i used to open a cleaning biz. I cleaned floors Windows and all that ugly dirty shit. Later Sold it.

That Money i used to build an anodize machine in my basement.

That Money i used to buy parking Lots and vending machines, atm,

And that Money im going to use to buy buildings that are designed for old people.

I am a Person who needs to push the Money to the top. Gambling in Stocks and btc is no safe call for me. But if you are cool with Real work you can make Real Money pretty fast. Safe call Hard work pays of but make Sure you always Look out for the next level

Its okay to just want to make Money. Focus on what you want and dont give a fuck what u have to Do for it. The prices for cleaning Service are going up and up because no one wants to Do that dirty work.
Ppl will want to buy it when u have a nice Logo with a good car and happy customers. When i Sold it i had 78 customers, Two Company vans and a Ton of cleaning stuff. In my country you have to Put at least 25k into a Real biz, so its worth 25k at least. it was Sold in an "all in one Box" to someone who wanted to invest in cleaning biz. Actually I feel confident in building a good brand now.

I'm in the US. I feel like I've squandered my blessing in living here. I'm just now learning how to get a piece of the pie. And to admire people like you. I hear about kids who sell lemonade and candy, or flip baseball cards. You flipped beer, you make more money in a day than I do in 2 weeks at my job. Arnold Schwarzenegger flipped ice cream at a beach then built a gym. I have NEVER done anything like that. I've just been content with existing, even as I begin to lose everything. But also I'm just learning how much power one can have with a little creativity.

>But how do you actually start it? Is there some legal action I need to take?

Well, I dont know which legal actions you have to take in the US. Google will surely help you.
Small Business have Big Chance but most of them fail bc they are not willing to work their ass Off bc its an easy life as a worker in a first World country.
I just check Jobsites. Looking out what is rare at the moment bc thats a problem. Then i google how i can solve this problems and which legal actions i have to take.
Other option is to post Fake Jobs on craigslist and See what people want to Charge you for the job. Then you get a clue on what is worthy. So its a lot about learning.
Other Option is when i have a Problem myself, i solve it and Show it to the World.

As I know by know you only want Money. It helps when you dont Focus on a specific Job like cleaning biz but just on solving problems. It takes time to understand that. But people pay for solving Problems - nothing Else.

A Lamborghini dealer is a problem solver
A dentist is a problem solver
A cleaning guy is a problem solver
They just solve different problems.

>> No.13718304

>>13717758
Not that anon. But I'm starting a cleaning service and this is the perfect time to jump in. Think about it. Assuming you're in a first world country. Amazon, Google, Netflix, YouTube, Uber, etc have spoiled people and conditioned them to expect on demand service. The demand is high and the supply is low, and may never be met. There's probably more people out there that need a service than there are service businesses available out there(embellishing a bit, but I'm not far off.) More and more people are hiring a service. And this could be the bridge between being a wantrepreneur and bootstrapping enough cash to fund your dream businesses, just like the other anons. (And I'm the process, learning so much about everything, that you actually become competent enough for a job, should you settle for one)

Also from a go-getter perspective. Only 5% of people find success, everyone else just settles for mediocrity. Even if there was competition, you could crush them. For example, with customer service or really great work.

Yeah a bit. The only issue with what you described (in the US anyway) is that it'll tough to make money because most advertisers won't wanna be involved with you, so you'll have to come up with some interesting ways to monetize, or advertise porn site subscriptions. Or take donations.

Box+ice can be bought for 20-30€ here. The problem might be to have an dry ice supplier near you.

You can even let people chill their own drinks for cheap if you can't get a selling licence.
You just provide a pretty good chiller.

maybe some gloves (a few € cost) might be needed too since you are having your hands in the ice pretty often.

You can also allow people to freeze their fruits or whatever for a little bit of money. Perhaps fun for kids ?

2 satan trips in one thread, blessed

You can cool down anything.
If it is in an open glass you can throw in the dry ice to cool it too.
Cool down towels and t-shirts.
The idea is pretty neat.

You have to do it perfectly from the start since people can copy that idea the very next day.

Happy to help out, albeit I am reluctant to take on commission-only work without knowing the traffic, price-points, etc.

Also
>half the profits
Commissions are normally a percentage of revenue, not profits. I normally do between 10-15%.

Anyway. Feel free to email me over at drc@hashbang.sh if you want to shoot the shit.

Anything related to making money from gamers is YouTube content or gaining a stream following. I've never streamed but two of the pitfalls of streaming is being super lazy or ignoring the audience. And don't stream top games. Stream your favorite game, or a hobby you have, or stream IRL or GTA RP. Build an audience, build a brand, this is the new "blogging"

Yes you have the funds. My funds are less than 600. I bought a residential pressure washer, it fits in my Corolla. I built my site by myself for less than $20. Just watch YouTube videos and buy used equipment. Get a used van or truck. Ford or Toyota. With 5k, you're way ahead.

Since my industry is cleaning. I will serve customers homes, and eventually businesses. It will be door to door sales, with flyers and business cards.

Oh. One observation I had. Do any of you deliver food? I saw something really smart, imo. Girl delivered some food and she left her business card in between the bags. Since her business was a cleaning service, it made a lot of sense. Really enterprising. I saved the card.
