One more thought. The gold / silver ratio is at historic highs, so there's probably more than a few funds going short gold, long silver hoping for the ratio to tighten up. Currently gold is remaining steady as a safe haven while silver is losing value as an industrial metal. If the ratio keeps widening, you could see some volatility as funds are forced out of positions.

Ok, the good bits:

1. Zero debt other than house
2. Pension via work that at time of retirement will provide 48k in income (as of now - get Promo or new job at higher pay grade this will go up).
3. 401k also via work - doing good so far, raking in the Profit/Gains.
4. Make just under 27k a year. Wife's Salary brings in a decent haul. State is low col and I live close to work so gas is cheap.
5. Car is recent model and has low miles (under 58k). Paid for. Should last 15 years or more.
6. Wife's car is paid for.
7. Work regs allow for full retirement after 27 yrs. Can use sick time to increase time or cut down time. Get paid for any vacation time up to certain amount.
8. I'll be age 50 at the full 27 year mark. If I use my sick time I can cut that down to age 49 and still draw a full pension. Still get paid for any vacation time to. Medical is also covered. Can also do it the other way, use sick time to bump up my time to 28 years served when I only put in 27. Get higher pension.
9. Brokerage account is funded and ready for action. T babies will provide over 30k in income at age 65. AMRN will provide short term Profits.KDP may make it long term so another income stream. VTGN is another short term Profit play.
10, In general after bills, expenses I'm left with $300 - 400 in extra cash each month. She dumps any extra cash she's got into a high interest savings account.
11. House/Cars/Health (mine and my Wife's)/ Server is all in top shape. So no bad surprises should happen anytime soon.

The bad bits:

1. Gotta wait till age 65 before T babies provide income worth a damn. Early deductions from 401k gets you a "fee" before 59 1/2. Can't do S.S before 65 - 67 without taking a hit there either. So from age 50 I gotta live from pension/savings for 15 years roughly.

2. Wife's car is getting up there in terms of age/mileage. Holding up fine now but she wants to replace it. I tend to agree. At the age where it comes a "money pit".

I'm buying PAK and NGE for similar reasons. They have nice dividend payments (but, only once per year) and from what I can tell, decent upside. They've been down, down, down but I think there has to be some floor there.

Basically no-one knows long-term how the US/rest of developed world/developing world equity price story will play out.

I think $30 is exaggerated, but only slightly. I'm looking at $20-$25. It was trading there when the company was doing very poorly. Large drop gap from 14 to $5, then up again and down from $9. Shorts are heavy heavy heavy. Short squeeze soon. Upon significant news, this stock will rise, shorts will panic and sell which dramatically raises the price to correction levels. Then once the short interest fades, stock rises more as people notice the good track it's on and institutions sell some now, but continue to hold some of their position. Before institutions sell is the time for you to sell, cause once they sell off itll drop slightly again, which is your time to buy back in before it hits $20-$25.

I've read galt's balance sheet and a few articles pendulum has posted here. It's basically a worst version of LCI, and far more specialized, so if it fails, it fails bigly (to be fair, LCI also has no long term investments so they can also fail in a similar fashion). They have their backs to the wall. LCI and galt also have a SHITTON of intangible assets. LCI actually struggles with that more than galt, and they can easily put themselves in a position to where they'll have to file for chapter 7 if they don't stay above water in the short term

They have a lot more leeway of failure and more cash to burn if things go south. They also have far stronger sales growth in their drugs, since they also sell general pharma stuff while developing their ace-in-the-hole.

If they get bought by/partner with a big drug seller, the partner will be the seller/manufacturer. Because they already do that.
That's how most of these things go.
Very few (like, NONE) of the little research-stage biotech companies have the goal of being an in-house show where they do everything from inventing to selling a drug. that makes about as much sense as a drug company hiring a thousand doctors to administer the drug.
