The most redpill business lesson I've learned is that you CANNOT succeed in corporate structures if you are socially incompetent. You have to be a cool guy with an interesting life outside of work if you want to make it.

Being a sperg ruins your professional career in subtle ways; the only way to bypass it is to forge your own entrepreneurial path. Your skills, talents, and abilities are of course very important to your career success, but having an unnatractive life is a cancer that slowly eats your coworkers' respect. This goes double if you are in a client facing professional service.

When you have a high value lifestyle, it's funny how your career starts to click. You are better at building rapport with clients and prospects. Your bosses see you as leadership material. You're a better coach and mentor because younger staff actually listen to you. Your ideas and suggestions count more. One of the most fascinating side effects is that you are LESS pressured to work extra hours and LESS stigmatized for taking your PTO because you will be doing something interesting. It's interesting how connected all the facets of life are.

Agree. I was a VP at big 3 bank, not a big deal because everyone is basically a VP, and trying to get to SVP level. Too much fucking networking, ass kissing, lunches, cultivating relationships, etc. I was in tech so I knew my shit better than everyone above me but the ones that made it their didn't make it because of their knowledge and skillset. I could if I tried hard but it just didn't come naturally to my introverted autistic self and I was always anxious, stressed and really didn't want to be in those situations. Now I WFH in a low level tech job, shit post, get no respect at work but much more content with life.

absolutely based. i love having my girlfriend with me when meeting potential clients, running into associates out and about, etc. she is very attractive and her demeanor is positive. i'm generally stern and somewhat abrasive (chicagoan living in mid-south), so she provides an excellent complimentary role. and she knows what to say, when to keep quiet or give me and whomever some privacy.
tldr OP is right. arm candy helps a ton and living an exciting life helps in all facets.

I work in a sales job and am admittedly not always successful. There is another salesman in a company whom we compete with and I'm assuming he's much more successful than I. He does all the networking bullshit which we've tried in the past, with minimal results.

I'm no chad, but I'm not a doormat beta either. This guy is either a chad or a wannabe flop.
