Same OP. To make matters worse my boomer index funds all tanked last week. Futures show that I am about to lose 1% of my life savings again tomorrow. I’m super depressed. Hit a bump in my career... still employed making decent money but now feel stagnant..

And I’m so close... I only owe like 20k on my house.. at which point I will probably stop working full time and be happier.. but with many commitments including two kids in private school it will probably still take two or two and a half years

I went from full time police work to doing an unfulfilling security job and I don’t regret the switch but it’s difficult to redefine my identify as something besides pig, while having very little free time to do things I enjoy.

I dunno man, where do you live? What's cheap? In the US northeast, land can range from a few hundred thousand dollars an acre to a 50-acre lot for less than 80 grand. Then you have to ask yourself a few questions -- why are people selling that land? Have vital portions of that land been cut away for other purposes? Is the owner a speculator who failed? Does the land have access to water, or a septic system, or electricity? These things require a small amount of investigation, and will require more work and knowledge, but it's at least something solid that can generate value over time that you can control, unlike gambling on meme stocks.
