Pi is a new digital currency being developed by a group of Stanford PhDs. You mine it on your phone and it costs literally nothing and has negligible affect on your battery.

WHO are these Stanford PhDs you speak of? It's mentioned on the video but I can't find it anywhere on the website.

From the FAQ "Additionally, when the Pi network enters its 3rd and final phase - Mainnet, only accounts validated to belong to distinct real individuals will be honored. In other words, even if all other methods missed out on some “bot” accounts, this user validation process will further eliminate them because bot owners will not be able to prove bots as real people with real names. That’s an additional reason we ask people to use their real names when registering with Pi to be able to claim their Pi on the Mainnet down the line."

So they want you to verify your identity (KYC?) before they give you control of the coins. Why should I do this if I don't know who made it?

They have said that before mainnet, everyone will get one opportunity to fix their name. Use a fake name for now, and its only your phone number, who cares. Then near when the mainnet launches there will be more info out for you.

The whitepaper seems pretty cool. I signed up, worth a shot. I always like coins that potentially will hit exchanges. I also like the referral system as it's necessary and will give people reasons to share the information.

It being a phone app too is quite cool.
