I view it like the Lightning Network. Lots of potential. Lots of difficult problems still unsolved. The team doesn't inspire a lot of confidence either. If they ever manage to turn the coordinator off I may change my mind.

How exactly is it going to be more useful for iot than just xmitting encrypted data over sha256x/512? You don't need iota to make your smart home work, or secure. And it takes more computational power than the current solutions.
So it's more expensive, energy wise, to run and confers no advantages. And by the way I bought iota at. 20c and sold at the top.
