This is 100% true. There is no real world demand for dapps. It was all just a fad used to dump useless shitcoins on retards.
>>13563818
Sure they can. They could use Oraclize or any of the many other oracle providers. If you think decentralized oracles are the only reason dapps never took off you're deluded beyond hope.

>> No.13567704

>>13567646
Centralized oracles are self defeating in most cases. You would still need decentralized oracles to properly remediate any issues that come along with trusting a centralized oracle for high stake ocntracts. Useless shitcoins stop being useless when they can be fed off-chain data. The question is whether your shitcoin of choice bolstered the rest of their tech in the interim. Most shitcoins will be replaced with contracts that take off chain data. Those that still have something to offer will succeed in ways that will make many here consider sudoku.

But the question is: what can these blockchains do that legacy systems can't? Smart contracts have a vital unique property in their trust (due to their self-executing manner). But they are "useless" if you cannot trust the data going into these contracts from the legacy systems. This is called a "problem at the edges".

So essentially in the space we have isolated pockets of trust not doing anything particularly useful. BTC transfered currency but it has ended up as a speculative vehicle as far as I can see. Ethereum can move information and is much more interesting. But it needs Chainlink.

If you're going to use a centralized oracle, you might as well just use a database as the backbone instead of a blockchain.
