13557634 No.13557634 [Reply] [Original]

Guys I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this concept. I locked my btc in at $11.8k (yes I know, should have locked in at $17k but waited and thought it would go up) I’m not too upset since I’m more than 2x up from the current market. And it’s the fact that it’s on the ledger is even a better feeling after what happened to binance.

My question is, if they really roll back the chain to where ever, how does this effect my locked in ledger price? Having difficulties trying to think about what I should do. Do I unlock and cash out into tether or do I keep it there and let all the shit happen and hope they don’t roll it back further than I think they will?

>> No.13557655

well it depends, did you uncheck the "sync rollback" option before you locked it? if not you're pretty much fucked

>> No.13557703

>>13557655
Idk of mine even has that. I have one of the earlier models?

>> No.13557730

What the fuck are you talking about

>> No.13557747

The ledger should have a roll back functionality to it that you can turn off, which is usually an option given to you when you lock your coins

>> No.13557762

>>13557634
Maybe it's possible, but it depends on your private key version.
Just write it here and we'll check immediately.

Locking in prices on the ledger. Idk If I’m fucked if they actually roll it back

>>13557747
Maybe I’m blind but I’m not seeing that option. Does it matter what ledger it is? I have the nano

>> No.13557833

>>13557747 if your ledger is stuck on "sync rollback" you can go to the ledger website and become a pro member (access to advanced settings). similar to becoming a level 2 on binance. basically you just give them your name, birthday, address, social security #, email, mother's maiden name, bank pin, and two of your most recent paystubs. Approx 30 days later you get access to advanced settings and can uncheck "sync rolllback" in your ledger

>> No.13557843

Your coins have been unlocked.

>> No.13557864

>>13557833
Dude I don’t have the time or want to do some kyc bullshit for this. This ledger is so I don’t have to do that shit that’s the purpose I thought. This is a fucking nightmare. Can anyone give me a real answer that doesn’t require doing all this. I checked my nano and nowhere does it say sync rollback. I just want to know if my price will stay locked in.

you should really think about calling tech support, or alternatively go back to redd1t. ledgers r for fags.

>> No.13557916

omg you're not getting it. you either buy the nano s secondary hardware wallet or you become a pro member

Very important question OP

>> No.13557934

>>13557864
No you brainlet, what part of 'rollback' dont you understand? If the chain is rolled back, then the system state goes back in time before you locked in your coins. The rest of the advise above is bullshit; you rollbacks are the only thing that can fuck up your locked in coins.

>> No.13557945

Your locked bitcoin is not affected by ledger rollbacks. It is effectively out of circulation and in a vault until you connect your ledger and use the sync function.

>> No.13557955

i've locked in rollbacks. you don't know what you're talking about

>> No.13557959

>>13557864
I went through all the bullshit recently after seeing what happened with Quadriga which got me spooked. I figured a rollback was in the cards at some point or another. The only piece of advice I would add is that you can expedite the process by contacting support and faxing photos to them directly. You're going to need a Sharpie for one part of it. Honestly it fucking sucks but at least you'll finally be able to sleep when it's over.

>> No.13557967

a re-org completely negates your locked-in price. this should be something that upsets every trezor/ledger user who has locked in their price at above 10k

fuck, i had to use a sharpie too

>>13557899
I was just unsure about the rollback since it’s a black swan type of thing. Feeling a little better now. Thanks

>>13557903
Yeah no kidding. This nano has been nothing but a headache .If I get a trezor can I transfer the locked in price to it from the nano?

>>13557916
I’m really considering getting a trezor if they honor the current lock in price

>>13557934
So I’m basically fucked if this happens. I think I’ll unlock now and get into tether until this drama blows over.

>> No.13557975

>>13557967
right, it completely depends on the price you got locked in at. i didn;t have anything locked in between 10-12k but i heard anything below 12 stays locked in even if reorg

I locked my btc at 9k but i had some shitcoins on it as well (ark, link, neo) are they locked as well or practically worthless now?

I would email ledger directly about this desu. Go to the support page and choose the "locking / unlocking coins" option from the drop down menu.

It depends on how far the chain is rolled back - your BTC may be rolled back into fiat if they go that far. Just make sure the Bluetooth is off

This is honestly my biggest worry. If its not synced to rollback and they set it back. I imagine the blocks being reorg’d will have an effect on current status. I think I’m just going to go into tether. It’s 6am here and I’ve been trying to figure this out for the last 5 hours

>> No.13558044

When you lock it in, the btc goes off into cold storage and the allotted funds are also taken away so when you unlock and cash out, you get what you locked it in at. It was a simple idea until CZ mentioned the rollback, now I’m not sure if imfucked or not and have no clue what will happen.

Helpfully for anyone that wants to manually deactivate the rollback feature in your ledger. Remember to back up you ledger in case you mess up. Plug your ledger into a windows laptop with the wireless off, a mac does not allow the customization needed for this fix. Click your ledger then right click advanced options and select view hidden files and folders. This will display your hidden files. Open the file named host with the notepad program and place the following server addresses one address per line:

A1.bitcoin.org/rollback/
A2.dns.bitcoin.org/rollback/dynamic
A3.dns.bitcoin.org/checksecure/rb

Click save and your ledger is safe from connecting to the rollback update servers. Your welcome.
