Should I buy the IPO? I worry stock market is about to crash. I have no experience with buying shares. Is the price going to 4x/dump like a crypto after listed on exchanges?

Stock market crashing is a slow burn. You have time.

It's going to be a huge pump and dump for the super rich like all these other IPO Uber bleeds money

Trips != Profit
Trips = Increased legal fees, insurance fees, marketing fees, etc.

Their profit has decreased over the last few years. Like every common sense anon says, unless you're an accredited investor who gets in before the IPO and plans to dump after the initial pump, don't bother.

Buy it after the dump

>tfw letting uber lose money doing market research while i'm perfecting autonomous cars
uber will be unnecessary very soon, which is why they're rushing this IPO in an attempt to cash out

Don't hold it long term. Uber is going to get straight fucked by either Google(Waymo) or Tesla in a few years. They're not even close in autonomous driving and they won't be able to compete once it gets here.

No consumer is going to pay $2.00 a mile when they could instead pay $0.50 and not have to deal with some idiot driver going on about his kids and trying to make small talk.

Uber has legal troubles pretty much everywhere except 3rd world countries. They will crash hard within the next year, because they won't be able to expand any more

And here it is right from the horse's mouth, them admitting they're fucked.

"We have invested, and we expect to continue to invest, substantial amounts in autonomous vehicle technologies. As discussed elsewhere in this prospectus, we believe that autonomous vehicle technologies may have the ability to meaningfully impact the industries in which we compete," the company wrote.

"While we believe that autonomous vehicles present substantial opportunities, the development of such technology is expensive and time-consuming and may not be successful. Several other companies ... are also developing autonomous vehicle technologies, either alone or through collaborations with car manufacturers, and we expect that they will use such technology to further compete with us in the personal mobility, meal delivery, or logistics industries. We expect certain competitors to commercialize autonomous vehicle technologies at scale before we do."

Pretty much all the 'gig' economy companies like Uber, Lyft et all are completely fucked long term. The only way they got their market was by burning VC cash to subsidize their product. They can't actually run a profitable company. Throw in all the bloat that a company has at this stage of growth and there is just no hope. There is also an important cultural consideration where people at first thought it was cool but then they did the math and realize that they don't even break even driving for them.

Not sure, Argo AI wasn't on that list. I doubt they will be first to market but they're still in a better state than Uber because they can still make autonomous cars at cost and add them to their fleet. Uber would still have to find a company to buy autonomous cars from and any car manufacture could just do the same thing at a lower cost. All Uber has is a basic app and their customers which aren't even loyal in the first place.

My money is literally on Tesla or Google. I couldn't invest in all of them so I picked the two likely winners. I think whoever is the first out will get most of the market.
