You have probably got the news about the new "satoshi nakamoto" miner on bch. They gained a 33% of the hash in just a few days. But that's not the weirdest part. Look at the timing of their blocks. As soon as someone finds a block they pump out a new block in under a minute. See pic related. I have observed it for a few hours and it happenes too often to be random. It's like they always have a solved hash puzle on hand just waiting for the the next block to build upon. What's going on?

I know. But Craig in his recently interview talked about how the double hashing technique in bitcoin was there from the start to allow the mining operation to be split into several seperate parts. This is not how it works. You can't just compute part of the final hash and then add the missing information and compute the rest.
The final outcome which is a combination of transactions in the current block, hash of the last block and a nonce has to be valid, changing either part because you are waiting for some information (like the last block's hash) results in an entirely different hashsum of the current block, rendering an eventual already found valid nonce invalid.

But listening to the last interview of Craig, he made it seem like the whole crypto space had missed a massive part of how mining works, or rather can work.It was linked to the double hashing in bitcoin. Double hashing in bitcoin usually refers to Satoshi (not creg) using SHA256(SHA256(message)) instead of only a single SHA256() call which he presumably did to cover a minor attack vector which probably isn't even usable for bitcoin and to generally make the cost of reverse engineering the message higher I guess.

Perhaps it's to do with SPV scaling. e.g. in order to verify the current chain, you only need the hashes of the message (which is just 256 bits). instead of the whole message (which is up to 1 MB).

it allows a large chinese hashing farm with lots of asics but poor network connectivity to specialize on just hashing. when they find a winning hash, they generate a hash puzzle that proves they have a winning hash. they sell this to another specialist, one who specializes in propagating the large blocks quickly to the small world network. the miner gets paid and moves on to the next block as the propagation company that bought the winning hash now broadcasts it as the next bitcoin block

Guys...remember that SUPER CRITICAL BUG in Btc they fixed like 3-4 months ago silently? The story went like this:
- Dude reports bug to Core
- Core investigates
- While investigating, they find a bug way worse thats somehow related to the original finding
- Like literally so bad it could allow people to create btc out of thin air and break the entire chain
- Core team decides to make a fix for both issues, and elaborates at an internal meeting to stay super-silent about the hardcore exploit
- they get the news out to the miners/node operators they need to update, sort of word it that it doesnt look suspicious but attractive to upgrade (performance fixes, clean-up, some old shit fixed..., nothing to worry about.)
- majority of network upgrades
- like a couple of weeks later when 90%+ of the network runs the new version they disclosed this killer bug in a sidenote but assured everyone that they believe no one used that exploit and that the chain is OK

Now the question: How likely is it that BCH, as direct descendent of Btc, did fix that too. Did they even know?

I particularly dislike this idea of splitting operations, because whoever offers the best deal on solved hashes is going to be a centralized gateway into the blockchain. They can tell the chinks "hey, we don't want txs from this address, don't put it in", and the chinks would oblige because that dude is giving them the best deal.
