I need to Photoshop a TSLA OP for times like this

Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

there isn't a bonds general or commodities general, usually all of these things come under the /smg/ umbrella

there are only a few people on /smg/ who even pretend to be big brained enough to understand forex markets.

it's a big ocean with big fish. If you post about forex in /smg/, especially in a way that we can understand, it would be nice ~

if we can talk psychology for a moment, if your stressed, you can try different things to gently ease back in to "decision-making":
50% index 50% cash and chill
~30 % cash, ~30% index, the rest only buy things that you really, really research. Buffet style. Buy things you love, and buy things that you love when they're inexpensive. Think of your stocks as cute anime girls or whatever helps
you should feel good or at least OK about your holdings, even on bad days.
some people like a stressful position.
There are very few times in investing where you should let your emotions lead your decisions. Mostly emotions are things we work around. But if you're really stressed you need to adjust your strategy.

Last I checked, the CEO had been “dumping” shares weekly as part of scheduled divestment plan. CEO’s are often paid largely in stock, and can’t really sell whenever they want to, they orchestrate their sales months in advance and I think coordinate with or leave the timing up to someone else, so they can’t get in trouble for insider trading and price manipulation.

That said, I also worry a bit when I see that. I see such conflicting things about earnings, a lot of analysts think they’re going to beat the estimates and they do have a history of upside earnings surprises, but then Schwab seems to absolutely hate them.

I might trim before earnings next month. My bullish case for them was based Apple cash, and the new Apple card is still being tested I think.

for a cheap stock in this market, they could miss earnings and go sideways, or miss earnings but raise guidance and go up.
One thing they have working against them is cheap(ish) oil and natgas, but I don't think it'll move their bottom line one way or another
with current market sentiment, I wouldn't buy puts. Too much a chance they just go sideways.
There have got to be better places to commit your capital ! if a market play that your considering right now just has the basis of 'GE always drops after earnings', I don't find that very compelling.

Let's assume, hypothetically, that you are young and German.

I don't know anything about German brokerages, etc.
But there isn't anything wrong with the funds that you're buying now.
Just save up whatever money you can (after emergency fund, normal cash on hand), and then chose one of the funds and buy as many shares of it that your investment savings can buy. Then you are only paying on transaction fee.
A couple months later, buy a different fund with the money you've saved up.
you're still down 20 euro to the broker, which is too bad, but it's worth it to be investing hundreds of euro (and they have to eat too).

Sure the whole tax cuts, tough on immigration, pro-gun, anti-abortion, and strengthening the military got him really far in the primary, but the truth is his economic policy appealed to people in the crucial swing states. normal market continuation, normal TSLA price continuation, is down further, maybe with one small bump, but it'll bottom out pretty soon. then it hangs out waiting for good news, hopefully they work hard on making cars and developing their software

I might buy in pretty big, I love cheapies
TSLA might be the king of cheapies in a couple weeks
do I buy 10 yang? 2o yang? more? It's still a risk at that price. that's why it's 230, 220, whatever. plenty of risk. but that upside is unavoidable. i can almost taste the value

It goes a lot further than that imo, there's an implicit secrecy associated with homosexuality historically that made gays super adept at maintaining infosec. There's a reason the KGB was colloquially called the Gay-GB, and secret societies from freemasons all the way back to mithraic orders and maybe even older groups were rumored to practice homosexuality as a means of enforcing secrecy. Well now the Earnings are in and all that jazz let us reflect the high points:

Profit is up
Debt is down
Dividend is safe.

All good things right.

And so the story goes that He will still be there for us in 20 - 30 years time. Flaunting that Fat Divvy for all to feast on. By my calculations starting with 100 T babies and holding for 30 years will get you 30K in Fat Payout Money.

Hey 30k don't sound like much but remember; it's all free and combined with other income (you do have other income don't you?) you'll be sitting pretty good. Just think; Tax Refund -> Buy more T babies = Fatter the Div payout will be for you.

Yes; I'll be 65 with 30k in free income coming to me thanks to T. Combined with my other income (Pension/401k/Savings/SS) I'll be doing pretty good.

Ex: You buy 100 T babies at age 20. You hold till age 65 (45 yrs). your looking at $4,235,405 in income a year; this assumes you don't buy more shares.

Ex: you buy at age 36. You hold till age 65. (29-30 yrs) You'd get 31 thou a year. Again assuming you don't buy more shares.

it works the same way in sports betting. the casino does not want all bets to be one sided (if the casino loses, they lose big) so to keep all bets from going one way the spread will move to make the favored team look less favorable OR (which is what happens with options) the money line will decrease meaning you will have be risk more to win the same amount.

time til expiration decreasing is most likely the greatest cause to your loss though

Hey guys, new /smg/ fren here. I turned $2500 into a quarter mill day trading cryptos during the 2018 bull market. Basically iterated the fuck out of a bottted mean reversion strategy and just rode the whole thing down. Crypto seems to be leveling out lately so I though I might try my hand in stocks.
I got a Robinhood account and I'm using the free price feeds from IEX to populate my charts and give my bot something to work with. My first test is with SBPH. I bought in at $6.59 and I feel pretty confident it'll go to at least $8.00 within a couple of weeks. What do you guys think of that?
Basically what I want to do is apply mean reversion with a swing trading strategy. Day trading stocks doesn't really look viable for me since they move so much slower than crypto and since I've had so much success longing stuff that in my subjective opinion appear oversold I though I'd keep going with it.
So far SBPH is up about 6% from where I bought it at so looking good.
What do you boomer faggots think about this?

Okay, I'll definitely look into it. I checked out forex.com and Oanda a while back when I was decided what I wanted to do next. It's my understanding though that Forex basically requires leverage to make any money since the percentages are so low. I'm a bit averse to the concept since it's so easy to blow up an account. My strategy depends on being able to hold an asset while the thesis works out which may involve the price getting a lot lower before it recovers. Leverage doesn't work well for that as I learned all too well when I flirted with Bitmex for all of 3 weeks. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll look into it. Maybe the GBP/JPY pair. I hear it read it makes some good moves.

I would never personally put a market order in, because that shit can fill at any random offshoot price from whats on your screen, because you authorized it, technically. I would suggest setting a limit order either at the price you see on the screen if youre comfortable with it, or like you said, a few cents below if you think it can dip in the next few mins. when the market is open, stock prices are constantly moving up and down, so you could make a .1% profit in 1 minute if that's what you're looking for
the amount of money you put into it has no correlation with how long it takes you to make a profit
also, Samsung stock isn't listed on any US exchanges, so you likely wouldn't be able to buy Samsung stock

The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham is a timeless classic in this regard, definitely read that one if you could only choose one

/biz/, I'd like to start investing at a small but measured rate (over years). Is there a guide on how to get started? I was kind of hoping there'd be a sticky, or something.

Firstly, I'll try to guess what the other anon is referring to:

- Samsung stock trades only on foreign and OTC exchanges, places not usually within easy reach for new investors ("retail investors" as they call us)

- Most people that zero in on one stock or company, tend to dive deep into their books and financial statements to determine if it is a good bet.

-Secondly, it is never really determinable when and how long it could take from you buy in point for any stock to turn profit. In theory, it could tank the moment you buy and you could be stuck clutching it until it comes back up. Even if it soars the moment you buy, you're present with a nicer problem: when do I sell and get out with profit... when's the best time to jump out in the green?

----- As far as books go, you sound like you like Samsung because of what you see them doing in today's phone retail and tech space. One of the all time great investors, Peter Lynch, actually ran his record breaking funds in this style (in the 80s lul) and has long since retired and written a few, very easily digestible books on this topic. I suggest reading them, I think you'll love them. He even narrates the audiobook versions himself:

Peter Lynch:

- One Up On Wall Street (1989)
- Beating the Street (1993)
- Learn to Earn (1995)

(I read them in this order and loved em)

Also, I should add, Peter Lynch very much adhered to the style of taking a look and a walk around society, and observing where the masses were flocking to and spending their money the most and the most often. He would use there observation methods to decide where to put his clients money and when to spot small, up and coming companies that looked prime to attract big crowds in the future.

Was probably easier back then at the height of physical retail and shopping malls (as you'll read in the book, his stories of walking around malls etc) but a lot of the meat in his books still ring true today.
