In /cng/ we discuss node, api's, hardware, cloud computing services, and anything else related to node operations

tl;dr hard to say. no one has a straight answer

How big of a token stack do I need as collateral?

This article is 2 years old.

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@internetotaku/chainlink-ico-was-it-a-scam-or-was-it-just-a-massive-mistake

Now name one thing they've developed in those two years. The only reason LINK isn't at 0 is because Sergey wanted more money. As soon as he realises nobody is falling for his shit anymore, it'll crash all the way down as the Chainlink team sells everything.

100k for a private node
1mil for a masternode running towncrier

>> No.13415718

>>13415654
I have questions about this too but it may be determined by market forces. Also how will your staking stack be connected to the node. I'm confused about that. Staking it too the node puts it in a specific newly created wallet that the node checks/references?

So I need 50k USD to run a node?

>> No.13415780

>>13415654
we don't know
it's collateral
if you are providing data for a $1mm contract then at current prices you would need 2mm linkies for that node

This article is really outdated and written by a weeaboo.

So if my lone i7 computer shuts off I lose a million dollars like that? Or is the collateral drawn from all participating nodes?

Yup. You forget to add it in every single thread. Weird!

>> No.13415821

You choose your collateral. If you are an absolute retard and choose to put your entire stack up as collateral then yes this will happen.

Lets say im a poorfag with only 2k USD of link to stake. Can I still run a node and participate in network?

>> No.13415851

At least, yes. To get the free requests that pay only the ETH fee.

>> No.13415878

>>13415849
You can run a node with 0 link fren. You wont participate in higher value jobs but you can still earn link. The more collateral you put up, the higher value jobs you will have access to.

>> No.13416334

No, you are not the only node validating data to a certain job. Your collateral will have to be a percentage of the total amount of the transaction. If 100 nodes are working on a 1 million USD job every node will need 10k USD as collateral.
