How many billions of dollars did it cost to make this shitty picture? We need to defund this kind of bullshit science.

You clearly don't understand how science works, retard. If Einstein hadn't discovered special and general relativity (which this photo is, once again proving to be right, btw), combined with quantum mechanics, you wouldn't have any of your toys you are shitposting on all day. No GPS, no smartphones, nothing.

Why do you not want to understand how the universe works and what our place is in it? Are you really so dimwitted and dull that you think your meaningless existence and having ten more tax dollars to spend on shitcoins is more important than finding out the most extreme places in the universe, learning about how it all began, how spacetime bends and how it all will end? Your a nimwit with the mental horizon of a guppy and I detest your kind and everything you stand for.

There was no good reason to take this incredibly expensive virtually rendered image when there are far more practical things to do from literally any perspective.

Anything beyond the solar system might as well not exist, let alone stuff that isn't even in our galaxy. We would be much better off making anti-asteroid defense missiles, massive city-bunkers or super-submarine bases. Those are practical, species-saving inventions that will help our understanding of self-contained ecosystems needed for potential space travel.

The money could've gone into anti-aging research, nanotechnology, nootropics, AI or GM. But no, we had to make a blurry picture of a black hole unimaginably far away and totally irrelevant. This shit is amongst the strongest evidence for ayys, why else would the governments waste so much money on telescopes unless they knew there was something to see.

>> No.13338961

Yeah, humanity hasn't really ever had its priorities in order. There's still world hunger, people dying, a looming energy crisis and no one gives a shit about that.

It's basically a proof of concept of a virtual earth-sized telescope. At some point we'll probably have telescopes in space at different orbits around the sun and can combine them to a solar system sized telescope, you'll get much better pictures then.

If you were a real MAGAer you'd realize the only way to end the kikes reign is by devaluing gold and precious metals, and the best way to that is by going asteroid mining since a single asteroid could conceivably contain more minable heavy metals than the combined sum of all heavy metals mined on earth to date. And you can't go asteroid mining without good asteroid finding telescope arrays. Another space race would ironically end the jew. Which is why we haven't had one.

Holy shit, you guys don't know anything about history or tech, do you? Just to cite one decade of US history, the 60's: the massive financial undertaking of developing technology for space travel--- especially the moon landing--- created or mastered most of the technology that underpins contemporary life. Everything. Modern metallurgical techniques, medical technology, optics, aeronautics, food processing techniques, synthetic fibers, plastics, propulsion, and on and on and on. The point is that seemingly pedantic or isolated expenditures of money--- like the moon landing and the Event Horizon Telescope alike--- yield discoveries that completely reshape tangible life on earth. To spoonfeed you again: little discoveries like this inform us better about how astronomical phenomena behave and confirm the effects of relativity. Discoveries like this have given us models of celestial behavior that, for example, have directly enabled GPS technology. Philistines like you seem to always come down hardest on NASA funding and art, when the reality of knowledge is that by seeking it out for its own sake, we end up creating a drastically different, unforeseen, and often better world.

The thing is that people who are clever enough to not fight each other are usually clever enough to expand human knowledge and clever enough to justificate the found.
So it's not your obnoxious spoiled ass who's gonna change anything about that even if you're investing stock while flipping pattys at Macdonald.
If your against knoledge expansion there is something called the flat-earth society where you'll feel oh at home.

the internet was a bullshit science project cooked up by the military industrial complex. So they could coordinate in a nuclear winter.
Microwaves, solar energy, gps, silicon transistors, etc all came from the big dumb space race.

Space is a frontier. Think about the new resources that can be discovered. One discovery could put an abrupt end to scarcity on this planet.

It's almost like conservatives like being poor.

Asteroid mining is a stupid meme. One industrial accident and you have orbital debris that will take trillions of dollars to clean up. The earth would have to be a hollow husk before seeking resources in the solar system is economically viable and risk acceptable.

Don't you faggots get it yet? 21st century technology is designed to keep cattle (like you) in line. Not actually enrich and advance the species to a higher state of existence. Nobody wants a bunch of low iq mutts participating in the future. You will be farmed, disposed of when the time is right, and only the best will enter the future.

Some 3000 hours of dota and fortnite zoomer is NOT part of the plan. Dumbass.

Yes, congrats, you have just found out about special and general relativity by trial and error by wrecking a few billion dollar sattelites. Now only thing you need to do is extrapolate your findings into a general theory so you can predict future behaviour and not lose anymore sattelites. Oh wait, you could have just used Einsteins equations. You must be baiting or a supermassive retard.

I know you are trolling but if you think everything that had to be invented so that you can use your car/phone/internet on a daily basis was always laid out in a clear path and not based on loads of fundamental research where the usefulness was not always immediately visible then you have no idea how actual progress works.
What are people like you even doing on a finance board? Everything in finance is about constant growth nowadays, how would you have constant growth without any technological progress?

The scientists of today aren't the scientists of back then. If you understand how this black hole image was constructed you would understand how pointless this is.

There's a reason dark matter and dark energy haven't been detected, there's a reason nothing has come out of discovering hundreds of elementary particles, they are chasing fantasies and don't know what they are doing anymore.

How do you become a scientist? You have to be a good scientific student. How do you become a good scientific student? By memorizing what the authority (teachers) say and parroting it, not by thinking outside the box. Scientists today are stuck in a box delimited by their beliefs and assumptions that they never question, and reject anything that threatens the castle their career depends on.

When nothing comes out of the science you're doing except stories and computer-generated images, you have to wonder whether what you're doing is really science at all.

You really don't know what you are talking about do you? The clocks sent on satellites can be reprogrammed, you don't send a new satellite every time you need to resync a clock goddamn retard.

When they sent the first GPS satellites they didn't even know whether the clocks would drift, they made it so that the clocks could be resynced if needed. They can resync them more precisely by measuring the drift they actually experience rather than by deriving it from Einstein's equations. You know nothing about engineering and how things are actually done, but stick with your feel-good fantasy story that scientists program clocks on Earth with a built-in drift derived from Einstein's equations before sending them into space.

No one is using your general theory for anything useful, dumbass.

Name one technology that was built using the general theory of relativity? You can't. The GPS was debunked above, they measure the drift of the clocks and resync them automatically, then they say it approximately matches with what general relativity predicts, that doesn't mean they used general relativity to make the GPS work.

>>13342468
The GPS network syncs by measuring the drift of the clocks relative to some reference, you don't need Einstein's equations to make it work.
