Might be dead due to the weekend but there was a hectic thread regarding DJing a few days ago. Ask and answer questions about turning your music into a business (streaming, touring, placements, networking, etc.)

OMG, are you serious?

How do you promote your music to a large audience? Can you make it if you are unsigned?

of course, there are lots of successful people today who have made it without being signed, and really, this is preferable, since you won't have to pay back advances from record labels if your album isnt as big as they expected, or get locked into a "360 deal" with them where they try to take money even from your tour and merchandise.

CDs, believe it or not, are still the most-sold merchandise item for independent musicians, and CD sales are actually on the rise (for independents).
Touring is probably where the majority of your money will be made.
Streaming isnt a great revenue source but is improving.

Facebook Ads is (unfortunately) still the best ads platform available: best targeting and biggest audience. As with any business, all the principles of sales funnels, Customer relationship management (CRM), advertising and everything else still apply to a music venture. The sooner you treat it like a business, the better.

Tips on licensing? I’ve landed one song on TV through cold emailing. How can I get the bigger spots without being signed? After establishing a stronger following of course.

Wow, welcome!

How do you find bands to tour with? When should a musician decide to go on his first tour, assuming he's not just doing it for the fun of it, but to gain fans or make at least some money?

Nice digits dude. Not that it should define artistic direction, but what cool trends are you seeing in production these days? Feel free to get technical, producer here.
