I'm trying to use guiminer to mine monero and I'm getting error no. 10013 'an attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by it's access permission'
How do I fix?
Using norton

I'd prefer to keep it for other security
can I exclude to the miner from it?

how do I allow it?

Whitelist the folder that the miner is located in in Windows security (add exception to the folder). Also use a real, non-scam miner.

I was trying to use xmr stak too but it was giving me the same socket error

Try XMRig. Are you sure you were using the right version of XMRstak?

>> No.13318703

it was the one that came up on github
2.10.4

You may have just set up the config incorrectly if it was throwing a socket error. You sure you entered the correct pool address? I'd delete the config.txt in the xmrstak folder and try again. A socket error is usually a typo making the miner unable to connect to the pool. Either that or it's getting firewalled by your antivirus. Make sure it's running from a whitelisted folder.

made sure there were no typos on stak and still getting the socket error
not seeing an exe in xmrig

Should be right in the main branch on github. Anyway, you sure you're not getting blocked by your antivirus still? I can't see why else you'd get a socket error. That's the same error that xmrstak throws me when I lose connection to the internet. I really think you're just getting blocked out by Windows or an antivirus.
