If you actually take some time out of your shitty life and watch some Sergey/Chainlink vids you'll find the answer. The answer is that Sergey doesn't want to go to mainnet until there are enough users. As smartcontracts are these end to end secure things, they have to be made very well and everything has to be audited and tested. As I understood, he doesn't want a couple of shitty dApps from the start. He wants some actual big users to get the network effect rolling. Now these big users won't take any risks which means shit will take time. Good thing is that the first ones have an incentive to hurry the fuck up since smartcontracts will cut costs which means more $$$ to keep. Also Sergey said they'll want to go to main net this year.
