imo the current global recession and currency crises are the only think propping up the dollar right now. The USD is the least shittiest fiat currency right now so it remains a reserve currency. There is only so much money you can print though. Technological progress in recent history has increased per worker productivity substantially which has masked the effects of the infinity growing supply of USD. But technology is slowing down, and the government is printing at a faster and faster rate. The money supply was quadrupled in the last decade to combat deflationary pressure from the GFC. Now its going to probably be quadrupled again. USD inflation will hit eventually and it will be unexpected and brutal, probably as bad or worse than the 70s. And so the least shittiest fiat currency, the USD, will be an extremely shitty store of value. Which is why this is bullish as fuck for crypto. The fed has become way to political and short sided and has dug its own grave with Trump, the GOP, who are focuses on pumping stats in the short term over long term economic stability.
