Lightning network isn't an official part of Bitcoin. It's the most advertised scaling solution, but that doesn't make it amazing. It's more centralized than anything that is trying to scale Bitcoin. You have to keep channels open and online. There are fees not set between p2p users. On the other hand, Ethereum has a layout of many useful tokens. even though 90% of them are pump and dump crowdfunding scams.
Bitcoin set the bar and that bar can be lifted or lowered depending on what other coins are able to bring to the table. At some point, they must break away from Bitcoin to establish their own values.
