It's a "you could have this one day if you wageslave enough" kind of thing. Realistically, there are few people in these roles, but they advertise the hell out of them because that's the only real career advancement you could ever get working at a supermarket. The entire corporate culture is basically dangling carrots like this in front of the pleb to keep them docile, while realistically they would never allow someone not previously connected in these roles.

No, Aldi District managers get this from day one. I know it here from Germany. They usually get recruited out of college or military but then have to work a half a year in all kinds of positions within the supermarket.
The issue is that the position of district manager offers little room to grow since few people make it into Aldi's lean core management circle.
The other thing is that you're designated platinum level wageslave with a lot of hours but without the prestige that some other occupations have.
Other than that it's pretty solid and if you have good oversight and leadership skills then you will like your job.

You are overseeing like 5 supermarkets. Just think of all the logistical planning and HR stuff.

This is exactly what they mean. It's a great salary, bu they work you half to death. Salaried jobs are only worth it if it's a job that is a more intermediate/senior position. For people just starting out in their 20's and early 30's, they know they can take advantage of you and they will.
