I need to pick between Cambridge and a mid ranking Russell group (for Americans top 20 percent) for masters.

At the Russell group one I won't have to work anywhere near as hard and I already know and get on very well with a lot of the professor's. I've been a gradecuck way too long and want to start a few hobbies and get laid loads.

I want to do a PhD and become a professor afterwards. I am not bothered by the status/respect Oxbridge gives you. Thanks.

At my company, we literally bin CVs from Cambridge or Oxford because they are invariably autistic fuckers who can't work in a team, can't take criticism, don't communicate and have toxic full-of-themselves personalities.

If you're going into any field that isn't autistic itself (law etc), take the Russell group uni.

why not just suffer for a year or two in oxbridge ? Idk, if you have the chance now why not utilize it. Its not like cant pursue your desires after you get your masters.

What field do you want to be a professor in? It’s not the uni so much as the department ranking that’s important. So if the department in Russell group one is ranked higher than the Oxbridge one then that late counts more. Having said that no one cares about undergrad. masters level is the chance to prove yourself and find a supervisor for a PhD. Aim to produce a masters dissertation that’s publishable and you should get a PhD relatively easily.

I think you'd be crazy to turn down Cambridge for a Russel Group uni.
