You have to really love something to pursue a PhD, like autistic love

>> No.13033440

Yeah, or be really driven. It sounds awful though, I have a buddy in a specialized field of physics. He has no life and has lost literal months of work due to academia bullshit like someone publishing something a bit too similar to his own research. There are better ways to make money.

>> No.13033482

>>13033440
Does he get paid well at least? I know some stem fields pay pennies for research.

Something in business but make sure to start your own company while doing it, you’ll learn more in doing that than 4 years of college nonsense. College fucking sucks but that piece of paper can be very clutch

Either business or engineering. Elder-god tier would be engineering with a minor in accounting, and then getting an MBA.

I think a lot of people don't realize this. A job is a job. They all fucking suck. Even people who play video games professionally eventually get tired of the shit game they have been playing for X years.

If you look at what he makes monthly, it's not terrible, but it's shit all per hour considering he works like 80 hours a week.

don't go to college, go to trade school and get certs

Unironically go to CC, you'll save a SHITTON of money and even if you piss off your years there, you'll be able to branch out to whatever you want when you're ready and not be in a shitload of debt.

If you're disciplined and incredible at math / physics / chemistry, go for engineering. You'll have to do internships though if you ever wanna land an incredible job that pays well over 100k.

>>13033406
Yup, you have to literally dream of your major, otherwise it gets sickening to the point of nausea.

You can do the meme trade shit, it works, but if you don't find it interesting, you'll have a midlife crisis in your late 30s and want to kill people.

The most patrician pilled shit honestly is to do what you love, even though it's cliche as fuck, even if it doesn't pay that much.

If you're 50 and you're still working at some place you hate. You can't even begin to imagine how fucking scary that would feel. Imagine sitting in your car after work, taking a long drive home and thinking to yourself, "This is it, this is what I choose to do with my life". My uncle was rich and died of cancer, he was always really cool with me and he sat down with me like a month before he died and said "I just need to tell you, whatever you do, don't do something you end up dreading, the feeling you get of doing something you hate for your whole life is indescribably terrifying, do what you love, you won't feel empty towards the end."
