REFR isn't even a weed stock edition

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Big day for $REFR

Read over todays 10K earnings and tuned into todays earnings call

Some notes during the call and JH (CEO of REFR) talked about the two models in the LA show twice during the call. Early on in the call I wrote this down about his comments:

Two new models shown at L.A. Auto Show that had SPD, to be produced in 2020, with substantially higher volumes than Mercedes.

Near the very end of the call when he was giving a summation, I wrote this down:

The volumes they are talking about are HUGE and will produced for delivery in 2020. "And it's a vehicle I can afford".

I've posted about Rivian before and will bet anyone here $1000 that these were the two models shown in L.A. that Joe was talking about.

Still very bullish on $REFR

you'll only pay taxes on the sale of shares if there were capital gains (i.e., the sale price is higher than the purchase price). short term cap gains of selling within a year of buying are taxed as normal income, but if you've held the stock for over a year you'll low cap gains rate of 0, 15%, or 20% depending on your tax bracket.

this is all under the assumption that this stock is being held in a non IRA account

Firstly that wasn't the real peak, pic related was, and it was $62XX, not $4XXX like it says

Long story short: lost 500 in crypto between August and October, and lost maybe $150 or so from catching the falling AMZN knife once every other week or so

Robinhood graphs have been so fucked since October/November this year, idk if it's their servers fucking up, accounting magic because I had crypto at one point or what

I did notice that every single day since December my daily returns price will alter itself a few times a day, like at 8am it will say $X is what I had at midnight, then around 9am it switches to $(X-Y) is how much money I had at midnight, then just after 4pm it moves the opposite way (at midnight I had $(X+Z) ), then again after 6pm it will jump the price again up or down, depending on what mood Rh is in that day

I've had days where I was red from midnight all the way until 3:55pm, not green at a single point in the day, then 4:05pm comes around and suddenly robinhooy changes it's mind, and says I've been green since noon (or visaversa)

I have a sinking feeling I'll need to track my portfolio separately if I want to be very accurate , but I'm lazy, and too poor to switch brokers to one that charges $10 a trade

But my Robinhood graphs are fucked up, Ive had a few times just since February this year, where I will have 5 red days in a row, and yet by the next day I end up with more money in my account than when the day began? It's weird when you can have 5 red ("negative") days in a row, and yet my account is higher every morning than the day before, because (???)

This app just keeps on getting more rediculus the longer I've had it, forget their market order fudgery, I'd rather know what they do to my accounts total worth

I've stopped trusting Robinhood graphs that are any older than a week, because whenever I compare to old saved screenshot, there are absolutely huge errors, and I have yet to find out what rh is doing, or why...

Yea I don’t think that’s true I’m just curious about the company and can’t remember for the life of me their name
In consumer markets I don’t think it’s ready for the norm but in workplace environments especially construction and logistics I can see it being a boon.

The IRS treats crypto not as capital gains but as property.

You can only deduct $1500 losses, or $3000 if married.

If you lost a shit ton, you may owe the IRS plenty. Consult with a CPA. Mine charges me $200 and does everything to the T to make sure I benefit the maximum amount.

The easiest way to make sure you never get fucked is on any big profit immediately take 15, 20% ( whatever your tax bracket is ) and send that shit to the IRS in advance.

yes it absolutely is, thats why i just take a bunck of screenshots of 1d, 1w, 1m, ectera graphs every day or so, at least twice a week

its amazing how many errors you can spot in a day now though

also i do know the deposit/withdrawl glitch, closing then opening the app a minute after the money goes through usually resets the days graph back to good for me though

and dont even get me started on what happens to your RH graphs if you buy an option that gets movement, shits retarded and essentially useless when they move hard and fast

Don't know. Obviously a lot of money involved wants to break above and stay above these resistances on S&P and Nasdaq. Dow is still a ways below the double top at ~$26250. Feels bearish, looks bearish. Squeaking out slightly higher highs appears to be a big struggle.

I dunno.

I'm not saying you need to love other cultures and start watching that MTV show about transgenders, but you should really make some friends who don't think like you and maybe don't look like you.

If this is bait it's good bait because there are people who really think like this.

Its a good movie, but its a movie that didn't need to exist when the source material and its OVAs are far superior and better paced. Its just Hollywood running out of ideas so they're taking from Japs. I will give them credit for trying to stick close to the original and now forcing in diversity and political shit, but its still just another soulless Hollywood remake of a superior property. Everything good in that movie comes from the OVA and manga which did shit better.

Now stop giving Hollowood your money shithead.

I can’t figure out Tesla at all. I’ve actually held at a few different times I should’ve sold just because owning it is so interesting and puzzling. My current theory is that it’s being treated like crypto by day traders en mass.
Really depends on how you see Tesla though. If it’s just another car company then it’s overpriced. But if you see it as /the/ car company, what apple is to smartphones, then I’d say there’s plenty of room to grow upward and anywhere in the 200s is a fine entry.
In 50 years I can totally see everyone driving a TSLA with the amount of gas-powered cars heavily regulated or even illegal. Poorfags driving a Volt will be mocked like early adopters of Android phones.

ye but I dont think TSLA is Apple. Apple wasnt cutting price of iphone saying "we dont expect profits this quarter". At least I dont think its the case and cash flow is quite different too imo

However, heres how I see TSLA, get 5-6Qs timeline, draw line at 315 (its middle of 52w too). If you're even more autistic calculate all times it is below and above 315 (its roughly 45:55). Since its loss making company with huge debt as my reward for being shareholders I'm only on short side of this. Watch out for irrational spikes tho, I tried leveraged position, got wiped with 320 spike for no reason.

well, what do you think of Model Y? On paper , NIO small size SUV has longer range wthan Y dual motor but Y has cheaper options than ES6. My main concern is price, its actually cheaper than ES6, but that being said ES6 has better specs. I mean. Model 3 is made of fucking steel right? And they only figured out its harder to weld once manufacturing started lmao, so TSLA is not in great place for some time now, but look at NIO Q4 CC

>During the first winter, we heard from users about drive range challenges with the ES8 for long-distance trips. Although our client data indicates that 95% of ES8 usage is in the city-driving and only 5% is related to long-distance travel, we accelerated our efforts to expand our highway power swap station network, covering both the G2 and G4 expressways as well as the majority of the G15 Expressway.

>Now NIO users can travel between Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen without stopping for hours to recharge simply by using NIO battery swap centers, which provide a fully swapped battery within 5 minutes. NIO is the only company with battery swap technology to enable seamless long-distance driving in China, China's main highways, of ES8 akin to ICE cars in the fuel inconvenience.

and

>Our service network continues to grow. As of the end of February 2019, we opened 13 NIO Houses and 16 pop-up NIO Houses in 27 cities across China.

They sure look like they mean business

Too early to tell, and I don't see NIO and Tesla as direct competitors at this point in time. There are more than ten local companies building EVs in China, but NIO is the one that managed to deliver so far.

A lot of it will come down to price difference between cars where NIO is a clear leader and also the home turf advantage. The situation reminds me of what happened in South East Asia when Uber moved in, in less than two years local ridesharing companies (GoJek and the Singaporean one) managed to beat Uber and throw them out. Hometurf advantage essentially.
