Commmbank. I use my cc like a debit card and realised I've been missing out on benefits. What cc should I get?

Correct answer.

Do you actually make all your transactions on BTC? Do you pay a ~$0.20 fee every time you make a purchase? Why?

It really depends. Wether or not you shop at places which make you pay surcharges for AmEx; whether or not you want something with a rewards program; Whether or not you want to go with something offered by your bank. I recommend looking at the various offerings around. If you want to know which card offers the lowest fees, then that would be the AmEx Low Rate Credit Card, which of course has the big disadvantage of being using AmEx, so you will probably be slugged with surcharges if you use that. If you want a card from CommBank, but don't care about the awards programs, just look at what cards they have and just completely ignore all of the Gold/Platinum/Diamond/ect. offerings. Or, if you really want, you could go with a card from a different bank, like Beyond Bank's Low Rate card or CUA's Low Rate Credit Card.

While I strongly advocate for doing your own research, I would generally lean more towards customer-owned credit unions.

>fee-free multi-currency every day transaction account with highly competitive fx rates
>one of the highest interest earning savings accounts
>one of the best platinum credit cards (fee-free if you actually use it)
>apple pay on everything
>can link your foreign hsbc accounts
>no hippie shit: bank is infamous for laundering over $900 million dollars of cash for south american drug cartels and saudi terrorist groups

Is there a more based bank? I might be able to get a touch better rate here or there by bundling different products from a bunch of different banks but I like the convenience of having everything together in one amoral institution.

1) Huge brick and mortar bank which I've been with for 20 years. It's pretty much my central hub for all payments, cards, etc.
2) Large bank where I just hold an old grandfathered-in semi-anonymous savings account for a rainy day (not tied to my name, but if I want to withdraw I have to show ID).
3) Mid-sized online bank for time deposits, savings accounts, etc. Much better interest rates than my main bank.
4) Small online bank which is connected to my broker account.
5) Paypal (which in Europe is incorporated as a proper bank).

There's no reason to limit yourself to a single bank. Last year my main bank started getting frisky and wanted me to switch to a business account (with much higher fees). I basically said, I already have 4 other accounts lined up, so if they want to terminate me I'd be more than happy to move my business elsewhere. Shut them up pretty good. Don't put all your eggs in one basket!

When I'll take out a mortgage I will shop around again. Maybe sticking with my main bank for so long will finally pay off, or I'll just add another large brick and mortar bank who gives me better interest rates.
