It would ultimately be the downfall of the USA and the world economy. I contribute quite a bit in taxes both state and local, but I would effectively "retire" once 1k/m came into play. I don't need to work, I can live off my savings for the next 30 years. I suspect a lot of my wealthy friends will get fed up with paying into UBI and do the same. I say go for it.

It would grow the american economy by multiple trillions on account of huge increase in consumer spending, hundreds of thousands of small businesses opening or expanding, thousands of people taking entrepreneurial risks they otherwise couldnt have taken. Subststantial decrease in crime. It would massively lower bureaucratic waste as a bonus as the majority of those of the 100 or so welfare policies opt in to ubi, cancelling their welfare payments.
