Fucking lol. Why the fuck would an airline A. move their data off their platform, or B. decide to try to trust data imported from outside their platform.

In this example, it's so much easier, cheaper, and more reliable to collect data through the company's existing services: corporate accounts.

This is a fantastic example of just trying to throw shit at the wall of blockchain and see what people are willing to bet sticks. Oracles don't exist and chainlink is worth little more than a customer retention campaign deployed at a midlevel department store franchise.

To brianlets:
This tells us that Chainlink will be embraced as an option but will compete with Oracle's service. Now, that's not bad, collective autism has tested the chainlink concept enough, it will prevail in the long term. This doesn't state a collaboration though. Although, once Chainlink wins in security and oracle diversity the Oracle solution will be absorbed into the network like oraclize was. And like all these other smug shit projects like rhombus and maker are going to be absorbed.

My impression is that one of the big usecases is transmitting and confirming data between companies, not intra-company. IE: what are the underlying reasons why the airline company in your example would give rewards points? To collect data and incentivize customers to use your service

Say American Airlines wants to bolster their rewards program, they will need to know price ranges, target demographics, flight logistics etc... and they will need a way to efficiently collect and compare that data to their competitors.

I could be way fucking off but you’re thinking surface level here. Airlines don’t give out reward miles out of benevolence

There is no way to get that data for those scripts without compromising all the network where you get the data from, when you use blockchain you can get the data with cryptography so you can release all kinds of data for automatization without wondering if you are creating holes for your network

you currently can automatize everything but no one wants to release real time data because they fear that there will be leakages, cloud tried to fix this in some way but the only true way is blockchain

Close your eyes, try to clear any thoughts you are having
Take long, slow, deep breathes and put all your focus and attention onto your breathing
iiiiiiiinnnn.................... ooooooooooooouuuut

good. Do this for a few minutes, then -
VISUALIZE yourself becoming rich through your LINK investment
ANTICIPATE the things you will buy with your new found abundance of wealth
IMAGINE as though it is all happening now in the present moment, for the present moment is all that truly exists
MOST IMPORTANTLY
FEEL the way you will FEEL when that moment comes and you make it!
FEELING THE EMOTION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN JUST VISUALIZING THE IMAGES!

Now open your eyes, look in a mirror, and recite these affirmations (use/add your own that is relevant to the reality you want to create once you make it)
I AM RICH
I AM WEALTHY
I AM A MILLIONAIRE
LINK HAS GIVEN ME INFINITE ABUNDANCE
It's important to do this when you wake up and before you go to bed, but do it as often as possible. Also hold the image and idea of us making it and LINK being worth $1,000 or more in your mind as you fall to sleep.

WHEN WE DO THIS COLLECTIVELY MY LINK BROTHERS, THE UNIVERSE WILL SEE TO IT THAT CERTAIN EVENTS, PEOPLE AND CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ALIGN AND BE ATTRACTED TO US - THAT WILL ALLOW OUR DESIRE TO MANIFEST INTO REALITY!

it prevents lying by:
-providing an incentive in the form of the LINK token for providing the correct answer
-giving the contract requester the choice of selecting specific nodes with a reputation or a completely random set of nodes for his job
-giving the contract requester the choice of enlisting as many nodes as he wants for his job. more nodes, more security.
If someone enlists for example 10 nodes for his contract and all of those nodes have a reputation and a real name registered behind them it is nigh impossible for someone to bribe 6 of those oracles to somehow provide the wrong answer, which would in itself be a hard thing to do because the nodes themselves can't see what they're working on because everything is being done in a secure enclave

>-providing an incentive in the form of the LINK token for providing the correct answer
How? Financial incentive only provides the most likely, popular example that rewards with money. If you see that the highest-reputation node in an area is reporting inaccurate data, (e.g. reported temperature being consistently low) rather than not getting paid, the profit-minded are going to start reporting similarly flawed data for sake of payment.

>-giving the contract requester the choice of selecting specific nodes with a reputation or a completely random set of nodes for his job
Doesn't help when an entire group of nodes reporting a kind of data are all attempting to determine "popular" data based on who has the best reputation

>-giving the contract requester the choice of enlisting as many nodes as he wants for his job. more nodes, more security.
No, more nodes means more lowest common denominator "popular" data.

Why do you need a blockchain to prevent bribing? Just hire analysis companies privately/independently. This provides the same masked security along with the benefits of being able to do things like verify expertise.

Chainlink offers reputation voting for popular answers and huge drawbacks when anonymizing data providers.

It really doesn't. Can't even run cat games, leading to massive network congestion.

By comparison, Skycoin's deterministic language, CX can handle smart contract functions along with actual things like applications, all hooked in to blockchain.

Really, if you want to get closer to actual "oracle" data, capturing user input directly to the a Skycoin Fiber blockchain will be much closer to true data than anything chainlink will be able to provide, given that they don't have any solutions to handle 'last mile' data import.

CX is based on golang, sharing some syntax, but really isn't the same thing.

The important thing is that the application code can be validated via blockchain and also interact with the blockchain. Meaning much less cheating in games, and better quality data for something like a temperature sensor

Skycoin would actually perform Chainlink's services better than chainlink would. If users plug in temperature sensors in to Skywire nodes and are rewarded based on the bandwidth requested for updates, the collective average of data would be much more based in reality and truth, given that one faulty sensor wouldn't throw off the average.

Here's Vitalik explaining how oracles are meant to be decentralized by design:

>The approach is still low-trust, as no single oracle has the ability to unilaterally withdraw the funds

This one is especially funny, how much money is there to be made in the lucrative market of schools deciding when to call for a snow day? Idiotic.

>ip control
This one doesn't even have anything to do with what chainlink proposes.

You can't automatically put the real world on blockchain. You can't automatically ensure that data sources don't lie. Voting to do so is not trustworthy and by definition, does not meet the standards of what an oracle is.

Chainlink does not solve the oracle problem.

What about a trusted sources method.

Say you had initial public votes in different areas, like who wins different sports games. The top 5% that area correct the most would become the trusted sources for that area. next 15% would be moderately trusted. Rest would be untrusted or used as bulk verification and to help find new trusted sources. The trusted sources would be the ones used to verify data is correct. If any of the 5% become incorrect then they are replaced by the highest in order from the moderately trusted pool of 15%. Prevents centralization. Problem comes with different areas, like weather. One correct reading might be 32 degrees, while another correct reading down the road might be 33. You could have trusted sources falling into moderately trusted and moderately trusted into untrusted.

I can think of problems with this but it'd be an interesting experiment.
