I used to think accumulating xmr is a good idea.
then I learned how centralized the project is around developers, they fork away from their network, effectively destroying it every 6 months to be "asic resistant" it's look shooting yourself in the foot every 6 months.

They will go down.

The fact that it forks is a positive for gpu miners. I don't like that it does not obfuscate IP and does nothing apart from being private- there are 1000 other coins that do this and with lower marketcaps.

Btw, zcash is israeli backdoored asic shit, prove me wrong

Zcash does not destroy their own network every 6 months and has a self funding chain. Development for Zcash is secured for as long as the coin has value since part of the block reward goes to a fund used for development of the project. This means that there is not a lot of outsiders influencing the project, like how Blockstream got taken over by that AXA insurance firm? Less likely to happen in a Zcash atmosphere. Dash is another coin with a self funding chain and as extra a DAO that governs changes and campaigns. Zcash has a trusted setup, rumors are they might get rid of it, but a trusted setup also brings extra security, Decentralization meme you know. They have a strong team and work with Zero Proof Knowledge for private transactions, there is no other tech that comes close to this tech for providing private transactions. in effect if you look at XMR tech for privacy its just a big mixxer, its just obscuring info. At some point in time analytic tools might be able to unwrap all of that. with ZK-SNARKS this cannot happen. Edward snowden called XMR a hobby project, maybe for good reason.

> killing the network that secures you every 6 months is positive for someone.

the only persons who profit of this is the monero developers who also control mining operations.

>Zero Proof Knowledge
Bulletproofs are a form of zero knowledge proofs, which is what Monero uses. I don't see how you can knock Monero for being centralized for bricking ASICs and then one paragraph later praise Zcash for having a trusted setup (extra security, wtf?) and a dev fund miner tax. Monero has never been ASIC friendly and was founded on the premise of egalitarian mining right from the beginning. If there was any opposition among Monero holders and miners to the devs decision to fork to brick ASICs then you'd see those old chains getting usage but of course you don't because everyone knows there is no consensus for an ASIC backed Monero right now. No devs, no demand, no real value to those old chains.

Zcash is quite obviously backdoored and as centralized as it gets. Protip: Snowden is controlled opposition.
