Is KHC the ultimate value play right now edition ?

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

The trade volume has gone up a lot on them all recently. Shown here is the 3x. It seems I am not the only one. I have dabbled in investing only in the stock of the companies I have worked at, because they gave me discounts on the stock. I'd love a recession personally, let me buy a bunch of stuff up so cheapily so taht in 15-20 years when I retire I will have just that much more.

I am only beginning to educate myself in finance, but I have a question I would like to submit to you guys.
How smart/incredibly stupid is to acquire short term debt to fund a long term investment?
In concrete, I was thinking about buying some form of index fund for my retirement, but borrowing a bit (8k) from the bank so that I can invest a bit more this year and benefit more from compounding. I expect to pay the 8k in 10 months, 12 months maximum, 100% since it's not like I'm going to deprive myself too much (my job's visible horizon makes me think I won't be having much free time for the next year anyways). Accounting for interest rates and commissions the index fund will probably only pay itself back in around 11 years, less if conditions are better, but is not like I would be touching the money anyways.
The risks I can see would be interest rates on the loan increasing too much making it harder to pay, tho it would need to go somewhere like 60% for me to actually become incapable of paying it after a year. Increase interest rates on the loan would make the investment pay itself back over a longer time. The alternative is to not acquire debt and simply build the portfolio more slowly.
Thoughts?

yes 2x leverage

ETFs exist which simulate that sort of leverage, 3x exists too. SPY/QQQ/common index funds that you know of are in essence 1x because they simply track the market, the leverage amount is simply implied.

3x: TQQQ, UPRO i believe

So I can essentially double or triple my earnings through the increased risk?
Like take a vanguard fund for an example.
Say it's year to year average is 12%.
With a 2x leveraged EFT I'd get 24% in returns? And for 3x 36%?
That sounds too good to be true.

>> No.12880495

>>12880457

Not exactly. The leverage on these is calculated DAILY, which means over a period of time, the movement of your leveraged instrument will differ from the underlying index. It's not exactly 2x or 3x or whatever, and the longer you hold the greater the variation can be. Leveraged ETFs also carry a higher management fee than you would have for a standard 1x index derivative like SPY. It varies from just under 1% to about 1.5% at the most. This fee comes out of the ETF's NAV, you don't pay it directly.

>> No.12880501

>>12880457
here are the last 10 year annual returns from 10 years ago today:

SPY - 16.52%
SSO - 30.23%
UPRO - 36.32%

so yes, you can double your return in a bull market with 2x ETFs. They also take a beating in recessions, but they will not get liquidated which means you can buy and hold them long term.

3x should be avoided by the retail investor like us here, but 2x is perfectly safe and ideal for modern times. The markets are getting better and better at having shorter and smaller recessions, long term data still uses stuff like the great recesssion which simply cannot happen economically anymore.

Re-posting this to the new thread, it was created right as I finished and posted:

Hey anons, I've been playing around with some of my savings trying to get the hang of investing and I need some information on slightly more advanced things.

When you're looking at a potential stock to buy, and you're calculating your risk/reward ratio how far back do you look for the potential reward? Some stocks have small peaks and lows during the week but in the grand scheme of things over the period of a month the price is at a peak despite the weekly movement being at a low. This is to say nothing about the earnings in a year as a whole. Is this something that just depends on how long you want to try to trade a stock, or is there a good general time frame for short-mid term trading?

For example, my first stock I bought a couple days ago (AMD) I purchased a few mostly just to say "hey I bought my first stocks, cool" but also because it seemed to be on a downturn for the week and I figured it might jump back up to it's previous high. Like a complete idiot I didn't DMOR or look further back than a week (I was on break wagecucking). AMD has since dropped $1 and I have decided to put a stop loss at $23. When you anons trade how far back in your opinion is a good range to see if the "dip" is really a dip worth purchasing? I'm currently learning all I can about creating a good risk/reward ratio with your trades, but none of the sources have clearly defined when the "reward" reference point is.

And they don't just want people to buy the game. They want them to buy shit in the game for long periods of time.

Even Warcraft no longer has the allure it used to because of mismanagement and butchering of the lore.

Novavax Inc said on Thursday its vaccine to prevent RSV infection, a leading cause of a respiratory disease in infants, failed to meet the main goal of a late stage study.

The vaccine was not able to lower respiratory tract infection caused by RSV, or respiratory syncytial virus, the company said.

ResVax is a vaccine administered to mothers during pregnancy intended to protect infants against RSV disease.

“While this study did not meet the pre-specified success criterion for the primary clinical endpoint of this trial, the data indicate that ResVax protects infants from some of the most serious consequences of RSV,” Chief Executive Officer Stanley Erck said in a statement.

The company said it planned to meet with U.S. and European health regulators to review the data.

With average dividend yield of 10.8% for portfolio I already took about 1% of value home this month staying long. If we fall I don’t lose much if we don’t I’m still staying safe making money till we do
