Ok. So the total coins in existance ia 346 million. But not all are in the wild. The way tokens were sent out was that there was a snapahot of the EOS blockchain taken. But it was capped at 40000 tokens at 1:1 ratio. So whales got max 40000 tokens. If you held your EOS on an exchange, you cannot get TLOS unless that exchange lists TLOS. After 1 year if the exchange doesn't list TLOS those tokens can no longer be claimed.

"claiming" Telos isn't necessary. All the accounts on the EOS genesis snapshot have already been created on Telos with the owner's keys. They just need to use the account to "claim" it. Unfortunately, there are a couple of scam sites trying to steal people's accounts with fake Telos "claiming." Don't fall for those!
