From the couple of people who really make it. If you look around here you'll see that probably 80% of the people in SMG are trying to be that person. We're betting on low cap stocks with big growth opportunities, trying to figure out which biotech stock is going to explode next, buying companies ahead of hopeful buyouts, trading options or doing TA to try and do short term trades. All of these strategies are valid except for TA and options (unless you're autistic and use advanced strategies for options.) Nobody in this general is legit rich from doing this, even with (or maybe because of) our pooled resources. It's hard. It may be that the market makers are really that good at rigging things so only they can pull this shit, it may be because we don't have enough starting capital, it may be because the market is just a bunch of numbers moving around because of hard to predict variables. It doesn't matter, it's just hard. But it is possible.
