people who take SSRIs usually have done none of their own research. They just take the first thing their doctor hands them. Most people who take them would probably not be happy to know they are hardly more effective than a placebo. What makes them work though is belief. You choose to believe in something that makes you feel better, so it does. Its more of an unconscious currency than it is a medicine. Its you buying the ability to let yourself feel okay now, because you believe with the happy pills you can. The bad brain chemistry meme is so fucking stupid. The causes of depression are so multifaceted that it can almost never ever boil down to an issue as simple as a serotonin efficiency. Most of the time it has to do with poor schemas, and medicine doesnt cure faulty schemas, which are the cause of the 90%+ of the "chemical imbalances" people experience. Do they help some people? yes. But for most people are just memed into paying their way out of their depression.

Had severe depression my whole life, was finally diagnosed as bipolar type 2, on Cymbalta currently. Seems to work a treat but I've become so lazy its almost unbearable. Also recently discovered i have a gene (rs6323) which causes Increased Monoamine oxidase A activity that degrades my serotonin, dopamine, epinephrine and nor-epinephrine levels possibly causing my symptoms therefore a Monoamine oxidase inhibitor might be better for me. How does your body not wear down? If I run or cycle for 30 minutes I'm so sore the next few days I can barely move and it ruins my mood as well. Has been this way since forever. I'm not even particularly fat (5'11" 170lbs).

Exercise is usually like:
>Do the exercise
>Feel good for a couple hours afterward
>Start getting sore 12 hours after
>Soreness keeps intensifying and hangs around for 48-72 hours during which I'm fucking miserable and hobbling around like an old fart
>Never even seem to gain any muscle or endurance from the ordeal
>Whole thing feels like a cosmic punishment with seemingly no reward at the end

Personally I'm afraid to take SSRI's, don't wan to get dependent on that shit. Only reason I took Wellbutrin is because my dopamine rewards system is fucked anyways.

I just deal with depression. Exercise always helped me, I prefer swimming and lifting so it doesn't fuck your joints. I'm taking ritalin which keeps me awake and forward leaning, but I still space out and daydream a lot.
I'm gonna switch to adderall to see if it turns me into a better machine. I'm looking for the ability to really focus and concentrate on things.

I'm looking for tunnel-vision in a pill. Ritalin keeps my mind running on a hamster wheel and gives me the internal motor to continue giving a shit after 30 minutes, which is better than my situation before.

I've found that I do best in life when I limit the amount of entertainment I consume. Less video games, less media, less news, less 4chan. I shouldn't be here. I should be doing some programming work in R right now. I even enjoy R. But I'm just a dumb monkey brained bitch addicted to reading other people's dumb comments on the internet. The only reason christianity is "bluepilled" it's because people just read the new testament, when you read the prophets, the law and what Jesus fulfilled then all makes sense, the edomites are the modern jews, maccabes makes sense, the crucifixion, the sexual liberalism, how nature is deceiving, aesthetically pleasurable but inherently wicked, etc

If you read the new testament without guidance you will become Sodom, you need the law to understand the messiah, the law is the infinite wisdom of god and the messiah is the infinite love of god, we will get the infinite justice of god when the end of days come

The redpill is that any culture that accepts christianity becomes high IQ through sheer work of the spirit, see the georgians, armenians before islam, turkey before islam, ethiopia before islam, see what happened to them after islam, the difference in baltic countries before and after christianity is dramatic

Nature IS deceiving, there is a reason why new age pushes the idea that you should follow your "desire", if you believe in your desire you obviously fall to the desire of your nature, the "flesh", and that's never ending and deceiving as nature itself, it makes you crave stuff imminent to this world when the real craving is for trascendence and all knowing thing, you can even simplify nigger behaviour as following your dick which is obviously nature intended

Look, we are in /biz/, anyone can see how you can become insane in the search of money, the imminent feel of power and liberation from resourcefulness... But it's true? not really, anyone that is christian knows that it's fake and makes you crave a lot, it can even deteriorate your health dramatically, money can help to do lot of good in the world but most of people just search for it to live the yacht life which obvs is empty as fuck

I think there is something to clarify... It's important to follow some orthodoxy because it's what keeps the initial spirit of the church from the early christianity, that's why some places don't get the full spirit because they combine their beliefs with pagan practices, like Mexico with their taboo death pagan rituals or Brazil with their sexual festival orgies, as I said earlier, I believe the law makes you understand the messiah, protestantism is inherently going to the shitter when tradition doesn't support itself, at the most basic level you can see it in the music and art, orthodoxy has glorious music to worship but protestantism has really shitty music with no spirit whatsoever

There is a lot of philosophy about christianity from the early church, most of modernity discussions about ethics and morality is just a footnote of things that were already discussed long ago

I mean in early christianity there was a lot of gnostic cultists who thought the best way to get to god was to follow your desire completely and give to orgies and so on without constrain whatsoever... We think modern social problems are new things that happened with modernity and nihilism but it has already happened before, Modern Jews push this idea that we should reconsider all our beliefs because they are backwards and it's the exact opposite. Hell even in babylonia there was a time of female sexual liberation that made males go in the complete opposite direction a few generations later with strict marriage and sexual laws

I grew up in a shitty city, where I felt bullied and threatened all the time, basically developing PTSD, I became so neurotic and frustrated that I worked my ass off you get out of the city and it worked. I went into a good city, with rich and educated people (that is the important part) and I started my brain rewirering using LSD. The idea is to put yourself in a good environment while allowing neuroplasticity in your brain through whatever SSRI or LSD or psylocibin. This will remove the trauma that makes your brain go into those automatic negative modes. Next step is Buddhism / Taoism, and you won't need LSD anymore. A buddhism way of life basically increases serotonin in your brain.

personally i'd be rather interested in taking up buddhism, but the only way i can imagine doing that is by going balls deep into it, which implies a very esoteric lifestyle, which i don't think i can take for too long. i can't understand why my friends into buddhism can live normal seeming lifestyles when the word of buddhism seems rather "extreme" (or rather, penultimate), but i can also understand that one of the essence of buddhist thought is to not take things into extremes.

You don't have to get deep into it, I am not deep into it. Buddhism is a way of life, that you can apply without going esoteric. I personally don't like zen Buddhism as I think it goes against the idea of letting go and stop trying to control every one and every thing. Zen Buddhism is very strict and has a lot of 'rituals' I deem unnecessary for me. As for my education, I read books, I am trying to memorize the parables, the noble truths and eightfold paths, and apply them in my daily life. I don't want to fall into the extreme practice of the religion, the "going balls deep", I don't understand this quest for the "ultimate purity". I basically read different texts and interpretation, and see what works and what makes me happy, that is what in my sense a religion should do.

I am also trying to keep a good scientific standpoint. I am pretty convinced that faith in something good truly creates good, I mean, it works, the brain by believing in something good brings good. So just for that reason, and for the power faith can have, I have faith

He eventually tried his hand at meditation and claimed he had a spiritual awakening and that he was getting visions from god. One of the more profound things he said was that Jesus is a point of focus for the ineffable aspect of god/divine good and divine truth truth and one of the reasons god came to earth was for that purpose, and that without that point of focus man inevitably ends up worshiping nature or idols, whether its the sun, the space between atoms, whatever. Not at all. Get an appointment and pretend you have ADHD, and get the biggest stim prescription you can bullshit your way into.

I'm on Ritalin because Adderall is illegal here, but it should work even better if you can get some. On stims, all of my problems, real and imaginary, seem like a joke and I feel like everything will work out in my favor in the end. Even washing dishes is a blast while on Ritalin.

Exercise, SSRIs are shit tier and not a permanent solution. If you want to not be depressed stop taking pills and start exercising for 15 minutes twice a week, and slowly start building up to more days and longer workouts. Or you can be a faggot and say, "I dun feel like it" I don't care if you suck some pharmas cock. SSRIs are just a bad version of exercise.

No one got rich by working 40hrs a week. And no one will ever get rich by working 40 hrs a week because it's impossible. You worked 40 hrs a week to get back a paycheck and see that half your productivity went to the government in taxes, half of that half went to deductibles like healthcare, 401ks, and other fees, and all that is left over is a small piece compensation, just enough to sustain yourself to come into work the next day so your boss, and ultimately your company, can claim credit for what you did, and ultimately what you do. Be your own boss, you keep 100% of the credit and almost all of the value creation, save for taxes, and even then the owners of the means pay less in taxes than the workers.

SSRIs can help short-term. Do not take any SSRI long-term! They'll fuck u up worse than u'd be without them. I took Lexapro for 10 years. It has taken me over a year to get down to 2.5 mg from only 10 mg at peak. SSRIs will rewire your brain over time to not know how to produce serotonin properly, which can take years to re-wire back to normal. I still get brain zaps and shit, even with the taper over nearly a year. My goal is to be off of it entirely by the summer. The pharma jew is real.

thats not really true, there's downregulation of receptors in compensation for more access in the synapse but it is reversed over time. also, SSRIs probably don't even work with direct action on serotonergic systems, they're marketed as having a "selective" action only on certain serotonin subtypes, but the effects is most likely found in the modification of DA systems (mostly) which are regulated indirectly by serotonin. its actually still kind of a mystery.

Used to take 20mg of Citalopram daily but all it did was make me emotionally flat, robot-like and prone to incredibly risky behavior. I haven't had much trouble with the law except during periods where I took this drug. Made me not give a shit about anything and I couldn't cum for my girlfriend either but it was preferable to wanting to kill myself every day.

Right now I get by on lots of rock climbing, which is great because you have tangible goals to reach in the form of grades. Plus I like to keep busy at university, but it's really hard to get the hamster wheel running in this respect and maintain the momentum, but it's all about building good habits I guess. I have studied approximately 10 hours in 2 academic terms lmao.

The main problem is these intense bouts of anxiety that last for 2-5 days where I feel like cars are going to hit me, people walking close to me are going to stab me or that I am a bad person who is going to hell. That and enjoyable manic phases where I feel like I can't focus and calm down.

It seems to me that if all spirituality is about trying to distance oneself from their desires, then christianity is a terrible example of this. Every interpretation of scripture (catholicism, puritanism, baptists, evangelicals, whatever) essentially applies the carrot and stick approach by dangling someone people deeply desire (paradise or salvation) in front of them, and threatening them with the torment of eternal hellfire if they default in their devotions. In that sense they are reinforcing the vagaries of the material plane rather than absolving people of them. Gnosticism might be an exception, I have not read enough about it, I like the idea of the demiurge as it mirrors the everyday experience we have of every 'higher thing' falling to dust upon closer examination.

Stripped-down buddhism is really the most redpilled practice in existence, it is not even a religion because the core tenets of buddhism require no faith, they are simply empirical observations: 1)suffering exists, 2)much of suffering is caused by attachment to material conditions 3)some measure of relief from suffering can be attained by subduing one's desires 4)a useful mechanism through which to achieve this is meditation. That's basically the whole shebang.

not true at all, I started taking the lowest XR dose and within a week I developed persistent muscle twitches all across my body that took 3 months to go away after discontinuation. Also made me drowsy as fuck at random times of the day, to the point where it occurred to me I probably shouldn't even driving, just in case.

Psychedelics are good for working through issues that are holding you back. Resolving trauma or PTSD, or instance.

If you have a permanent chemical imbalance (e.g. I seem to have permanently downregulated dopamine receptor activity, likely either from genetics or a childhood of compulsive gaming), then they're not going to do shit. Still fun and interesting to take, but they won't magically cure your broken shit.

No, your error is thinking all desire is equal, that's why the concept of sin means imminent desire, and that's why it's called "flesh", meanwhile the concept of spirit means the desire of seeking God, which means transcendence, also it gets more power when its theology is ancient and how it relates to the messiah given through the prophets

Buddhism sees all desire as wrong and then it becomes nihilism, there is not even reason to meditate at all because you could say it's desire too, buddhism is a bigger even leap of faith in this case, then as the buddhist can't even discern between meaningful desire and useless desire, it simply fills its despair through Zen, which means doing without thinking just because everything Is, buddhism can only fix this by creating a new concept that is the nirvana which can give some discern over what is good or bad but it still just a patch that is given in, not something that could be took from its tenets

Also buddhist meditation is completely different than the christian one, the christian one always seeks meaning through the theology of redemption, what it entails to be the lamb of god compared to what jesus said, meanwhile the buddhist meditation empties your mind and makes you forget any kind of meaning, mantra meditation is fucked up and makes you a schizo long term
