What does it take to make an international business and how is it defined? Would you consider Twitter to be an international business? Why?

Just want to know if social networking companies are actually international businesses or just facilitate international business development? Any insights would be awesome.

oh yeah and i dont know enough about twitter but i think it has more to do with if you have physical assets(office buildings, towers, distribution centers) in multiple countries not just a product that is used in multiple countries

I would call an international business any business that has the ability to provide goods/services abroad. It seems like a very vague definition but there is no reason that a lot of businesses should not be categorized as "international".

Are some businesses 'more international' than others? Sure.

As for twitter, definitely. It's a social network but businesses across the globe rely on it for advertising. Any social network (provided they are, in fact, gaining revenue and are in multiple countries) is international.

It's mostly subjective.

Why does it even matter?

According to this it would be technically international, but then
>In the world of eCommerce and virtual business, it becomes more difficult to stick any particular company squarely into a category. At that point, it's more helpful to categorize a company by its intention or strategic focus, rather than its actual operations.
