I'm 18 and spent about half a year working nights in a grocery store saving at least 80% of every pay check i got sometimes i would even save 100% which i was able to do because i live with my dad. I'm trying to turn this into an actual living so i can have an easier time going through college as in having a more less big work load on me because my college is already paid for in full by my father. Depending on location and whatnot 80k can go a long ass way. Where I'm at for instance I get by pretty damn good making only 27k a year. To me, keeping everything the same but making 80k would be a godsend. Be able to bank 53k of that a year no problem. Do that for 15 or so years and I'd have 795k in the bank alone.

The Fed was at least more permissive than the FDIC when it came to some capital requirements and regulations. The OCC was the most permissive and cavalier, and spearheaded a lot of the deregulation in step with the treasury department. The Fed were more willing to go along with whatever the Treasury department said than the FDIC, which is probably the most conservative of the three big regulators in terms of least willing to change their regulatory regime. Although, it didn't matter too much in the end, since almost no one asks the FDIC's opinion anyway.

Once people got a little more than was necessary to reproduce their lot in life, they stopped working.

Human nature is not the one constant to measure society against, rather, this is the constant: a system that cannot reproduce itself will not last. Capitalism is loosing the ability to reproduce itself.
