I have $140k cash in an inherited IRA that my aunt left me when she died last year. What is the best way to invest this to generate maximum ROI?

This. Pretty much set it and forget it until you're getting within 10-15 years of retirement age. Then start transitioning a bit into bonds. You could allocate some of your portfolio into international and/or emerging markets too if you want even more diversification.

Do you ACTUALLY want the highest ROI, though. Are you willing to accept more risk for more reward? Most people say they do, but when push comes to shove, they back off.
