>I’m here for the investment, I brought pizza

You’ve started an after school investment club, invite only. Some of the coolest kids from school are there and think you’re cool because you made good money trading crypto. He overheard people talking about it in the hallway and just assumed you forgot to invite him. He considers you one of his only friends. His mom encouraged him to bring pizza over for you as a sign of gratitude for being his friend, she prayed every night for over three years for her son to find a friend and considers you a gift from God. You don’t necessarily consider him a friend but you’re still nice to him always. However, the other guests at the club find him annoying and will likely stop inviting you places if they think he and you are always going to come together. This means you’ll lose access to all the hot girls and cool parties in the school.

So, do you let him in?

"Cool kids" are often more empathetic than you would think. Let him in, talk to the other kids and tell them to be cool to him for like an hour, act as though they are doing you a favor. Now you look like a good guy, everyone is (relatively) happy, and no one has their feelings hurt.

unironically yes, even while already knowing he will, in one years time, after having become friends with all the popular kids (as i encouraged them to focus on his good qualities) and assured by his new, well secured position in the social pecking order, organise a coup d’etat and force me out of the very club i made and allowed him to enter.

It really depends on how bad apu is irl. If he's literally retarded then I'll have to politely create distance. If he's just an autist then I'll slowly groom him into a real person. It's not that hard to make the NPCs accept an outsider, just guilt and shame them into thinking it's uncool to be so closed off. I've both been on the receiving and giving end of this predicament before. If you know how to play the game it's easy
