https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-01-29/silver-use-beyond-jewelry-has-bulls-betting-on-shrinking-supply

>A deepening shortage is promising to help boost prices as haven demand for the precious white metal rebounds in 2019.

>Silver surged 9.1 percent in December, its biggest monthly gain in almost two years. The commodity has benefited as a persistent trade war, weakening dollar and prospects of slower pace of U.S. rate increases drove haven demand for precious metals. The price outlook is improving at a time when demand for gold’s cheaper cousin is poised to top production for a seventh straight year.

>With miners avoiding new projects amid global economic uncertainty, the price could spike as high as $17.50 an ounce from about $15.87 now, according to a Bloomberg survey

$50 2020!

We are in a seasonal period as companies buy silver supplies for the year, this is almost all industrial demand.

Expect a bull run until at least July!

Sell in July and walk away until next year. That being said, I also have a core position (about 1,000 ounces) of silver that I never sell, I'm talking about my speculative gold and silver mining stocks.

Silver:

>has the second most industrial uses in the world
>can NEVER EVER go to zero value
>represents a store of economic energy
>can be used to easily hide huge amounts of wealth from the government or wife by burying it in a secure location until the heat is off
>will go up in value during an economic crisis or disaster such as an EMP

Crypto:
>has zero industrial uses
>can and most will go to zero
>can be used to hide huge amounts of wealth in a USB stick from the government or roasties
>much easier than silver to move money overseas
>EMP means it will be worthless

I know which one I would choose.

Silver i only have coins due to taxes on silver being lowered on coins in the country I buy them from since there are plenty of autistic collectors(europe)
Gold i do have bars but most of my silver would be in "junk" silver,i do like my shinny new coins but for the most part I just buy them to sell them at a later date so I pic designs that people with autism might like.
Yours did very very well since its a "cool" design (dragon) in a non conventional shape for a coin.
But I'm betting others will follow on its success so it won't be that much of a collector item,or maybe I'm wrong but it's not so much the design as the silver itself, the design I see only as an added value to the real wealth

That's my point even if silver went to the moon even if everything collapsed what difference would it make for a wagie?
It's just a way to protect your wealth but if you're just a wagie there's barely anything to protect, sure does beat banks but i don't see it so optimistically.
So for a newcomer I'd suggest reading more than buying and being critical not simply trusting someone who is invested and shilling his thing.
It's It's a great metal with many properties amongst them being relatively cheap,as soon as it becomes more expensive the industrial uses will move to other alloys cost efficiency dictates industry more than anything

We are still in a bear market correction within a multi-decade bull run. You probably have months and months to stack. Just buy as much as you can each month. Let's say you can afford to throw 1,000 into savings and put that into silver. When silver is cheap you end up buying more silver, when silver is expensive you end up buying less that month. It's dollar cost averaging over time ensuring that you are not going all-in during a momentary spike.

Well besides silver mining cooling off and industrial use of silver increasing, there isn't a lot to pump the price. However if the industrial silver supply dwindles and miners don't increase production then the price will double at the very least within 5 years as demand increases.

ETF is a jewish scam.
You have 180 ounces paper exchanged on the markets for each physical ounce existing. The days investissors try to get back their silver they are in for a big surprise. But since you buy etf globex shit you must be a stupid boomer anyway so it's well deserved.

Yeah, I get what you are saying. But I think that holding physical silver is more like a storage of value. You buy it to keep your wealth secure from inflation and many other possible threats. But with paper silver, it's more of a speculative nature. I don't want to store my wealth, I want to sell it when it's the right time. It's more like with stocks.
To be honest, at first I wanted to buy physical silver hands down, but my country puts a tax on it (VAT like) which is 21 % so if I buy physical, it's an instant 21 % loss. I didn't want that so I bought an ETF.

It happened once in the USA and all you need to worry about is compliance rate. If millions comply then the government knows they have power and control. if you want to scam money for fake gold the best way is to buy heavily plated necklaces with the right stamps/clasps/welds off ebay. you still pay a pretty price, like maybe $60 or so for a good looking one but you can easily get a few hundred out of a pawnshop, depends how good their employees are and how they test, you can easily buy necklaces that will pass basic scratch tests, but nothing will get past a file..

insist on a loan and if they ask to file it (they should) say no and you will go somewhere else, they might just scratch really hard 2-3 times and make the loan for you, never say you want to sell it tho, they will file it in a heartbeat pawnshop melt 99% of the gold they buy.

various cereal boxes / food boxes in your pantry with a few tubes of silver in it. I like to disperse my metal around the house in inconspicuous containers like this. I've got a gun safe with some metals in it too. Basically if anybody ever breaks in they won't be able to find everything quickly and might just target the gun safe. Don't tell anybody what you've got or where it is, and definitely don't keep it all in one place in that monster box.

I've even contemplated burying some in the back yard in sealed containers, but don't really have enough to warrant that. I'd toss a bunch of random bits of metal in the yard to frustrate metal detectors if I burry anything.

Oh, I've heard of people hiding cash and metals behind light switch and outlet covers too in their house.
