This. Kids these days have it easy with their "tool belts", "Double XP weekends", and "Bonds". Back in '08, I had to pick flax and make bowstrings to get myself established. That was an honest days work, which contributed to Society, rather than fucking (((Merchanting))).

Uhh, i'm pretty sure both the GE and real-world-trading existed back then. Botting was even easier, and people were CERTAINLY merchanting and making fat bucks.

Besides, old school RS doesn't have any double xp or toolbelt bullshit

I think you misunderstood. The bowstrings vs merchanting thing was sort of like a blue vs white collar joke.

Well, I hope you botted that shit nigger, my "friend" from high school back then botted that shit to 94 crafting and didn't get banned once

I used to dabble in writing botting scripts for RS. Had a pipeline going where I automated account creation and tutorial island, then passed this account to a clay mining script who would mine for an hour and trade clay + gems to an idle mule account and then log out (mining account bans occurred within ~2 hours so these were disposable). I was mining about 100-200k clays per day and they were selling for about 180gp each at the time.

I had no understanding of what programming was in 2008. I assume most gaming bot programs are a huge co-ordinate based messes, constantly getting screen grabs.

>> No.12559246

>>12559223
Actually back in 2008 they were mostly using color bots that scanned each pixel displayed from the client via your graphics processing. Much lower ban rate back then for bots using color compared with injection and reflection.

>> No.12559255

>>12559223

Nah most of the bots use Java reflection to inspect objects in memory and make decision based on that. I.e. you want to make the character click on rocks to mine, the botting engine looks at the memory of the running runescape jar and returns an array of all nearby rock objects that the botting script can work with.

never written color bots but i'd imagine they're more difficult to implement. maybe now with machine learning you'd be able to utilize AWS rekognition or something

Color bots are why for ages RuneScape would shake and wiggle the world screen and map, to try and confuse those bots scanning for arrays of pixels. They since removed that because color bots are less of a worry with better antibans in more common better written bots.

damn I want to get back in to botting. It was fun as fuck to write those scripts. how hard is it these days to avoid bans?

Depends on what your doing, see Botting to Max's YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNOHnHmqQJuNDKquDafIv1Q

He gets banned in one season for fishing and he mentions how it's the highest ban rate skill.

>> No.12559499

So when using Reflection, would the engine essentially identify the Types of the Objects which had just been passed to it, from the JAR file, and then have set actions to perform on those specific Types, doing all of this at Run Time?

I haven't programmed in years, and have very little experience in Compiled languages.
