Why aren't diamonds listed in the stock market the same way gold, silver, and oil are? "Because not all diamonds are equal". Okay fair enough. Why not list prices for the different grades of diamonds then? inb4 "Diamonds are worthless they only have value because people think they do". The same could be said for gold. "Diamonds are common". Go outside and mine one then.

You cannot mix diammonds with other things, the revert the process, then combine small diammonds into a big one of same purity, and then divide. What you can, tho, is create diammonds from carbon out of thin air, each year more easily.

>> No.12547216

Debeers holds half of the worlds diamonds in an underground vault to artificially suppress the supply and continue to manipulate the price, just as they have been doing for 130 years.
From an actual intrinsic value standpoint natural diamonds are no more valuable than artificial ones that can be created cheaply in a lab.
Diamonds are an absolute meme propogated by debeers at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives lost to war and forced labour.
Do not perpetuate this evil industry if you have any sense of human decency.

Well to be real diamonds are common in the earth... But yes finding the deposits can be hard. The rare stones are above 10cts and are investment class. I've worked for a lab diamond company too. They are really hard to make..

I don't participate in the diamond economy for a variety of reasons.
They're pretty boring as far as shiny stones go,. Too much monopolistic power making them overpriced.

In a sense gold is the same way. Huge amounts are simply stored in government vaults and never traded. Gold prices would plummet if they ever started selling.

>> No.12548327

>>12548310
the difference is that that'd be organic, diamonds is all artificial. It's not like these governments are conspiring not to sell their gold and keep supply of the market. With diamonds there is a huge supply on the market but with a cartel setting their own prices.

99% of diamond and the mines they are held in are owned by multibillion dollar corporations. They own almost all diamonds produced by earth. They pretend that diamonds are rare by only releasing a small amount each year while continuing their shitty marketing routine. Diamonds are forever. Diamonds are a girls best friend. Marriage is special and you need a diamond ring. The whole point of a diamond ring came from the idea of a dowry. Basicly if you divorce your wife who will be the house cleaner, cook, and child care giver she will still have something of value upon a divorce. Diamons are disaster waiting to happen. Just give your wife a brick of gold.
