Anon you need to game your resume to get past the ATS to get your resume to a hiring manager who doesn't understand how your skills line up with the job so they can send it to an HR associate who doesn't understand how your skills line up with the job so they can send it to the actual departmental manager who's too busy to give a shit about reading your resume or contacting you.

like >>12540978 said: first you need to get past the ATS. what is an ATS
>scans your resume for adresses (matching)
>scans for keywords and matches those to the ad
>scans for experiences, grades, all that stuff
>gives the HR person a score about you (fit)
>HR person automatically rejects all but the top 5% every day which are within a certain location

these systems are often pretty terrible, however they get better. for example: the HR person sets the keyword "NodeJS" in the ad. If your resume contains "node.js" it doesnt match, and so on. However, you can game them pretty neatly

Listen up faggots, put every keyword under the sun in 1x white font in you resume. Easier with latex or a PDF though.

What was the moment like when you guys realized that you got into a subhuman tier job?

I work as an aerospace engineer and for me it happened last week when I talked with some colleagues about what my parents do for a living.
I said my mom is a doctor and my colleagues unironically reacted like:
"wow anon your mom is a docotor? woooow"
Other colleagues gathered and asked me more questions.
"does she have her own office anon? oh my god thats so amazing"
"wow I wish I was a doctor"
"I wish I had my own office"
"she probably earns a lot right anon?"
"she is helping sick people anon? wow"
"she probably can afford her own house right anon? wow I wish I could"
"what car is she driving anon?"
"why did you not study medicine like she did it anon?"

Fuck this shit, if I had know that engineering was such as subhuman low-wage autistic social decline profession, I would never have studied this crap. Not even kidding. Innovation! Technology! Exciting innovative projects! High-Tech! Science! Responsibility! Fuck this shit. It was all a scam!!

HR roasties will schedule you for interviews that you have no chance of winning

I've just stopped giving a fuck when I go to interviews. They're either going to hire you or they're not based on whether they like your resume, personal appearance, and speech patterns. Nothing you can say or brag about is going to change their mind. It literally doesn't matter.

Resume experience and personal appearance, that's all that matters.

Engineering is such a fucking cancerous meme holy shit. The end of career pay for a mechanical engineer is less than what a CS intern makes.

I got hired as part of the tech services department for a manufacturer-company seemed like a good fit with my chem engineering degree. I accepted because the original proposition was to have me be cross functional between regulatory, r&d, quality, and processing.
Turns out the company never bothered to expand the regulatory department even though it had taken on tons of projects so I was punted to regulatory work and have been working as a little paperwork bitch even though I have a BS and am taking a Masters in Engineering Management program.

At first I was pretty pissed but I realized the company was too small to watch my Internet usage so now I work for a couple hours and spend the rest of the day doing my homework and browsing meme pages on twitter. Just started job hunt up again, determined not to fall in this trap for a second time.

There are still way too many clerical "engineering" jobs, especially in government. I think there are some good jobs out there, but there's a lot of competition. I'm in the same boat, being a paperwork bitch sucks.
