You must wake up earlier than your coworkers and have an efficient morning routine. 4:30am is ideal.
You must focus every day for longer than your peers. You cannot look at your phone nor the Internet. You must get your responsibilities completed.
You must practice efficiency daily. You are actively wanting to produce more than your coworkers in the same amount of time.
You should not be eating what your coworkers are eating. Your meals should be healthy to give you energy. Stay hydrated.
Incorporate posture correcting lifts and calisthenics movements into your lifting routine to combat the desk devil. Do not skip workouts for work unless there is an extreme circumstance.

The weekends will set you apart from your coworkers. Avoid spending excess weekend time working. The fallacy is to believe since you are putting in extra time at work, you will get more wageslave points. Your reward will not be proportional to the effort. It's easy to fall into the trap that if you work more than everyone else, you will succeed faster. All you are doing is making more money for someone else.
Instead, use your "extra hours" to study your profession. Read books and technical literature related to your field that will advance your knowledge. Focus on skill building instead of feel-good self improvement. Work towards certifications that are valuable to your feild that your coworkers are too intimidated to finish. Make flashcards on the material you learn. Reading is not enough, you need to actively study to become an expert. Do not discuss with your coworkers how hard you study. Your social life should be a priority. No matter how many hours a week you are working, you should spend time with high value people. Again, seek out high value activities and people. Social dancing will relax you more than being a couch zombie, despite your instincts. Your bosses do not want to work with a loser. If they see you as an unsocial autist, they will say great things about your work ethic but fail to show up for you in career advancing moments. Your coworkers will ask you your weekend plans as a status checker, and if you have no exciting plans ever, thier will view you as beneath them, which makes collaboration difficult.

The key takeaway here is that you need to be productive during your regularly scheduled wageslave hours so that you can spend the rest of your time on improving yourself. Working out, studying, and networking are activities to make yourself more valuable. The more value you have, the more power you have to negotiate favorable terms. Your zombie coworkers fall into traps of working longer hours, which ironically makes them less productive, and then use it as an excuse to stay stagnant in thier lives. With a growth mindset, you are stretching yourself to get better at your job and life. You will thank yourself in even just a year.

It's like you have read a self-help book on how to be a better employee.
You overlook the human factor, where if you are too good at your job your boss and coworkers will get angry. Most wagies hate their jobs and only do the bare minimum to get by, overachievers irritate.
It's much better to grow your skills on your own time in secret and then bailing or getting a raise after your whole department relies on you for day to day operation.
