What a shitty analogy. Chainlink is just a method to supply oracles, which not all smart contracts need. Also decentralized oracles is kind of a meme, I don't think in theory they will ever truly work. You need a trusted 3rd party to be the oracle of a multi million dollar smart contract. Decentralized oracles are going to open up entirely new attack vectors for people to scam others out of smart contracts. Can't wait to see it implode.

Chainlink decentralized oracle gives bad data and invalidates a $10 million smart contract. Company can't sue anyone because it's decentralized.

the company would have chosen a node with 10mm in collateral
so your example is usless

Or, the company chooses nodeS with a net value $10 million plus to cover all damages.

and guess what? the node operatorS that tried to screw the contract over just lost $10 million dollars worth of LINK.

the key word for you brainlets is collateralized.

Op, this is exactly right.

its the 90s and people built websites with no internet. Chainlink is the equivelent of the https protocol. It is the www with a token. Without it all smartcontract platforms are useless.
