Is it possible to get a side gig as a DJ these days? Or perhaps music production?

I've always been interested in it but any time I look into it I get overwhelmed. There's just too much to learn, the field is over saturated as all hell, and it just seems so daunting.

Does anyone have experience with this? I know a lot of people that DJ at parties and make bank, but I'm more interested in producing music

If u can't even so much as 'look into it' without getting overwhelmed I doubt u have what it takes to make it.
I've been a musician / multi-instrumentalist since 12 and producer since 16. I do it as a hobby for my own personal enjoyment and nothing else. If you want commercial success it's like anything else, you need to give it your all and have luck on your side.

I've played the trumpet since I was 10 years old lol. Played some jazz through high school/middle school. Electronic music just seems so foreign to me though, its like a complete different ball game. Also never even attempted to write music. I've fucked around on FL studio and was not able to do anything besides make noises
