Ok I’m convinced you can’t use a stable coin but don’t see why nodes can’t use ETH for staking. Is it because ETH doesn’t have the transfer and call function? Doesn’t seem like that could be a big deal. I just don’t see the need for the token to exist besides it being used for a fundraising mechanism. Using a stable coin doesn’t make sense because stable coins need to rely on decentralized oracles but I don’t see why nodes can’t stake ETH for collateral.
Would it be because if ETH agents 51%ed then the entire chainlink network would be toast? But if that’s the case chainlink would be useless as it won’t have any smart contracts to feed data to on the ETH main chain.
Can’t use DAI because stable coins rely on decentralized oracles but using ETH would work fine. The volatility wouldn’t be an jssue bc link will be just as volatile

You can make decentralized oracles run with eth but then it would be tailor made for your smart contract. If you made a general purpose protocol for rewarding eth to ppl for running nodes and answering API calls, and build in a reputation system and all that, you might as well build another layer with its own token.
