When women we're allowed to work.

Seriously the main motivator of allowing women to work besides of course lowering wages, changing work conditions in the favor of employers, and further destroying the home, was so that the guys above could have harem of women to fuck. That's why in many traditional culture women working is looked down upon as a form of cuckoldry.

Further to the point in our neo-liberal capitalist society that thrives on usury and exploitation 80% of jobs are simply just for show, and here the Pareto principle applies where in most companies a small percent of employees do the majority of the work.

Is software even a good career anymore? I just decided to start studying CS and this type of shit is extremely discouraging. I thought CS was the last non-meme degree.

No

You could invest 10 years in any other industry and make comparable pay with less studying

it literally got coined to describe socio-economic dynamics dude

I thinkt he other posters description is a pretty good one. 80% jobs are pretty useless, other than you provide services/slave labor to the people that are actually bringing value to the economy

the more value any given individual brings to the economy, the more useless jobs he can create, e.g. maids, personal foot massagers, etc.

by definition, the others are LITERALLY useless, but they are the route that the value he brings to the economy enters back into circulation. he could literally be paying these people to build pyramids instead of landscaping. pyramids are useless. landscaping is useless. only the site of value creation is actually useful.

he's being generous, I'd say the real distribution is closer to 5% of jobs being useful, but pareto applies more broadly. e.g. inside individual firms

No... think of it this way, all the things you probably enjoy using are not things that a company will pay you to create or even maintain.

you've clearly never had a job. most people, at most jobs, ever, just stand around all day. or sit.

in fact trying to increase productivity because bosses aren't fucking stupid, they can see their employees fucking around, is one of the BIG things they're trying to figure out.

management tries things like constantly monitoring employees to increase productivity, they can FUCKING see their employees doing nothing. but the problem is that generally even good employees fuck around most of the time.

literaly the only job that people don't fuck around 90% of the time at are factory line jobs. and they have HARD fucking jobs that it is very easy to see if they're not doing it.

please, get a job you idiot.

management at any place that isn't finance, factory line, or medical, could theoretically easily boost productivity by double if they could find a method of people not being fuckers

read this

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/may/25/bullshit-jobs-a-theory-by-david-graeber-review

But I have also held many jobs and I can tell you that the few who do work probably only do 1-2 hours of work a day (in an 8 hour day), the majority do nothing but pretend to be busy.

>> No.12506844

Some people do nothing in their jobs. Its nowhere near 80% in any industry

>> No.12506854

>>12506844
you're an idiot. one, that's not the entire argument. second, people that 'do nothing' do their job at a speed that should get them fired, because there are honest people that are literally doing the job 6-8 times faster than them, but due to various legal protections the managers are helpless

hence the application of the pareto principle.

please come back after you've decided to be less stupid

No rly. You dont understand the implications of 80-20 principle to productivity. It means you can fire 99% of your workforce and still only halve your output.
There is just no literature on such a ratio being observed in any workforce anywhere. Its numbers pulled out of someones ass
